Cadogen
Jackson Browne, a musician with staunch liberal views, has filed suit against Republican presidential candidate John McCain, the Ohio Republican Committee and the Republican National Committee. The suit stems over Browne's contention that his hit song "Running on Empty" was used without his permission. The song was played in the background on a recent ad ran in Ohio criticizing Democratic nominee Barrack Obama's views on saving fuel. He is seeking at least $75,000 in damages. The ad in question has been pulled.

For someone who is self described as a lifelong liberal its kinda funny he wouldn't want his song associated with Obama drum.gif

Funny thing about copyrighted materials, even Republicans have to pay to use them.

WTF is up with the McCain campaign? Stealing music is typically more difficult if you intend to use it on TELEVISION.

Yes, it's because he's liberal...and if Obama uses "Cat Scratch Fever" without authorization, Ted Nugent would just be playing partisan games if he tries to stop it...

*sigh*

he meant that the song was being played over a part of the ad featuring Obama, hence the song

You misinterpret. Why would Jackson Browne, a dedicated liberal, lend his song to someone like McCain who is a dedicated Conservative? The article also points out several other artists who are a bit upset with their material being used in ads. This has nothing to do with a liberal being a wackjob. This is a case of people using copyrighted material without permission for personal gain.

That it goes beyond liberal/conservative association was my point - I reversed the political parties of the people involved in order to demonstrate the point that it isn't just a life long liberal (or "Obama's Celebrity Friends") trying to make things hard for McCain.

The focus shouldn't be "yeah, but he's a liberal" it should be "McCain is showing an across the board disregard for the rules."

Serously, what is with the McCain campaign? How hard is it to get permission to used copyrighted stuff?
