In this thread, my intention is simple: We are going to show how all of the Universe toys stack up, both to themselves and other lines. There are also some Animated figures thrown in here for good measure as well, because.. Well... I like them!

Also, I tried my best to make sure a representative of every size was present, save for Scout and Activator. I don't have perfect representations, but the idea should get across well.

Wow...I've long defended Galvatron not being a Voyager, but even for a deluxe he looks tiny.

While I was taking the photos, I was thinking of calling him Short-round or Mini-me. I think Mini-me fits.

That is awesome that they put a heart on PowerGlide. After all he had one in that one episode with the blonde chick. Very nice feature.

Also, I like that you set Jazz up with the Classics, I did the same thing.

I love the Beat-Nick head sculpt on him, inital pictures realy failed to get across the Daddy-O feel that he has. I liked it so much I called my sister to see if my niece has a tiny Saxophone with one of her doll sets. When I explained why I needed it, she told me she has a set of bongos too.

He's gonna be the Hepest Kat on the shelf man, swing'n in karazy tymes.

Thanks. Jazz happens to be my favorite Animated toy right now, and actually I picked him because he's the smallest Animated deluxe in alt form. And.. well.. because I like him. I could do a similar size comparison with Animated, but man it takes a long time to transform, pose, and shoot all these. Not to mention I completely forgot how to transform my alts after a year or so, so that was a bit of a challenge.

A note on Powerglide, which should be very obvious from the pics:

He's top heavy. VERY top heavy, relative to his pics. It's all centered pretty well on his hips, if a bit blocky, but he is exceedingly hard to pose properly. He probably would've been served well to have his heel be a separate piece from his toe/foot, as well as side to side articulation.

Oh, and like any time I mention him, watch the joint where the wings connect to the body. Loosen them before first transform or you risk a lot of plastic warping.

Oh, and you guys should know I only bought Silverbolt knowing this thread was coming. I passed on him 3 times in the span of an hour, constantly driving back to TRU and by it.. until finally I said farg it and went. I don't like that he's a sleek jet with a folded up robot hanging off the bottom, but what can you do. His transform is ridiculously simple, and I guess he kinda reminds me of The Guardian Legend. And he strikes an intimidating pose too.

Yeah, there's a point where paying tribute is a bad idea. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, until you realize what you're imitating totally sucked in every way to begin with. I like G1 Silverbolt, but that's because I realize his limitations due to being a toy designed 20 years ago. Not an excuse for a reboot, specifically in a case where you totally redesign another G1 combiner leader and also a G1 minibot who probably didn't deserve the upgrade to begin with.

I passed on both molds over the weekend. SilverBolt I agree looks to simple for the price point, there's alot more they could have done there. PowerGlide, I was gonna skip completely and just go for the repaint(it'd be a first), but again, that Heart picture is getting me.

This coming weekend, I think I'm gonna pick up both of them, and the Cybertron WingSaber, and JetFire redecos.

So Universe Ultras are the new voyagers or what?

Onslaught looks tiny next to the Soundwave mode.

Powerglide, and Silverbolt look a decent size.

Wow, that Deathstar/Vader looks smaller than Primus even.

Prowl is short standing next to Sunstreaker

As said Galvatron is tiny.

and I thought scale was fuxxored with other lines.

Is there anyway to fold Silverbolts wings back? It looks like there might be a hinge joint immediately beside his robot shoulders? What about the huge eyesore front of the plane sticking over his robot head? Is there anywhere/anyway else that can be in robot mode?

I'm not suprized about that though, plus it's an easy enough fix with either a dab or red or just stealing one my neices billions of stickers.

Nope, nope, and nope.

The hinge joint you may be seeing is the battery casings, there is one per wing. The nose is on a hinge. It is basically a bigger version of the SR-71 minicon or the condor minicon from Armada.

And to other questions:

Yes, the line is all over the place.

Yes, Darth Star is about 1 inch diameter smaller than Primus.

I just got Onslaught and Powerglide and absolutely love them. I think the ultra size is used nearly perfectly for the transformation and sound effects with both toys. I can't find a real fault with Onslaught other than his gun being a bit small. Powerglide looks a bit out of proportion with small arms and legs.
