What the shot? A two disc blu-ray of a single movie?!
pathfinder74
Yeah.... doesn't BluRay hold a ton more data than a DVD?
Prime-Collector
The case doesn't turn into Iron Man? Or Even Robert Downy Jr.?

Pfft.

Not the first one. Flags of our Fathers was two-disc, and a couple of others that don't immediately spring to mind.

I don't think it's a question of storage space so much as the marketing idea that a two disc is value packed...

I wonder how long that idea will last for. It seems to me that it'd be good for individual titles to boast the "two-disc" thing, but for Blu-Ray overall it might hinder sales (i.e. upgrading from DVD to Blu-Ray) b/c of the "I thought it was supposed to have all this extra space for stuff" thing. Perhaps as more and more people upgrade, they'll start to get a better sense of what you can put on these things. Or maybe they'll just expect a two-disc Blu-Ray to be SUPER DUPER chock full of extra stuff.

(still thinks blue ray might go Betamax)

Another issue to consider is distribution.

I know of a couple of cases where the Blu-ray bonus disc was authored because the bonus content was not going to be available in certain territories, and so the studio simply authored the main feature disc for the whole world - and the extra space allowed them to fit on every conceivable audio/subtitle stream they would need for that on the disc - and then they slapped the extras on a second disc to be sold only for the applicable territories.

I'd agree, just because I can't believe I'm going to be saying "Blu-Ray" for the next decade. But what's the HD version of VHS?
