Well?
I would probably put my Transformers purchases somewhere around $7,000-$8,000 over the 9 years I have been seriously collecting them. I got pulled back in with the BM cartoon, and then the RiD toys sucked me in, and I've been addicted ever since.
How's about ya'll?

I'm guesstimating at around 8,000 at this point. There's alot in my collection and I've never really taken the time to count figures in regards to monotary pay/value.

I just recently started this year, but its already in the $1,500 range. I got hooked on the Animated line. What can I do?

No idea but given the price of MPs I'd have to think that I've spent at least in the ball park of a 2 grand after all is said and done, but I only collect what I really like. With TFs I'm far from a completist.

It's ironic this shows up now, since I litterally just catalogued and priced out my collection over the last couple weeks to finally get it insured. So I actually do have a fairly accurate estimate of what i've spent (I can ususally remember around how much i spent on something, so it's probably not exact, but close enough) over the last 8 or 9 years since I started collecting. Once I did said math, it was hard not to weep.
Yeah. I'm the ice hole who voted "more than $10,000".

I don't even want to think about it. If I had to venture a guess, I'd hope it was around $2,000. (Add to that another $2,000 at least on Star Wars, GI Joe, Gundam and various other toys.) Also, this is spread out over 11 or so years starting with Star Wars POTF2 and Beast Wars figures.
Thanks for bringing that up, man.

Welllllllllllllllll.....Let's see.
I got back into collecting late in Beast Wars. I mostly stuck to the larger figs in the line and a select assortment of deluxe figs.
BM was 50/50. There was a lot I didn't get.
RID- save for Megs and Galvatron no other Predacons but I did get all the decepticons and autobots.
Armada- just about the whole line save for some repaints.
Energon- most of the line save for some repaints.
All Alternators except for convention exclusives.
Cybertron- almost all of it and the repaints.
Classics- all of it x2. (or more)
All of Titanium except for repaint Magnus.
Movie- just about everything and some doubles.
Animated- everthing in current release except for Blitzwing.
Universe- everything in current release except for Blades which I would have had, but I ran out of money.
All of the Encore figures.
MISC STUFF...
A respectable amount of original g1 figs.
Some odds and ends from the first Universe line.
Various exclusives and imports.
LOTS of multiples.
The only lines I haven't really ever gone for are g2 and Machine Wars figs. I wouldn't even know where to begin to place a dollar amount on all that I've bought. But I can say...
IT
IS
A
CRAPLOAD!!!!!

almost 330 bots * $15 each = $4950.
no idea really but i'd say it's a pretty good estimate using average prices of all i've got.

hehe.... I have a bunch of armada in storage, a few cybertron here, and, of course,

!! I suck at math, so I'd estimate about $300 or so. I'm not a die hard collector, plan on selling a few older ones, and Am getting a sheotload more

soon, so it will vary quite a bit over the corse of forever.

UK prices will knock me well over the $10k mark :'(

Aug 7 2008, 01:31 PM
I'd say somewhere just north of $5k - considering the bulk of my collection is MPs, BTs and Takara bookcase - which tend to be a bit on the pricier side. Over the course of 5 years it probably works out to about $100 a month, which isn't too ridiculous.

I'm guessing 3k, but there's been lots of buy, sell, so I don't now. Voted 4-5k.

I dread to think how much I've spent on the collection. Since a lot of them don't have any prices and I can't find anything that mentions how much they're worth now, then it could be over £3000 or more, not sure. Hard to tell.

Well I have around 1000 toys now and I know I paid at least $10 for each and most of them I paid much more for. Brave Maximus with Master Sword and Gun Kit, MP04 Prime with Trailer, MP Megatron and Upgrade, MP SS, MF Browning all that cost me a Grand!
Wow... Crap, I think I want to stop thinking about it now

Same here, off the top of my head I'm between $6 and $8. Those vintage items will get ya.
I figure it this way, as long as my bills are payed why not? This is what makes me happy. I travel for work, so when I get a vacation, realy I just wanna spend it at home as hotels just make me feel like I'm at work.
I still save money and don't ask anybody for anything. If I overspend on something, oh well, I'll just have to work alittle harder next time around to recoupe.
Take care of busness and enjoy life while you can.
EDIT
I thought the question was per year, not over all. I'd have to say i'm close to if not over 100K. A $10 figure here, a vintage there, gotta have a double every so often... It adds up.
Hell today alone I dropped $50. It's a common occurance and more often then not runs even higher.

Yeah, not with this hobby. Whatever, men in my family usual die at around 65, as long as I can afford a hole big enough to push them all in with me when it's over, it's all good.

Well I'm not that old so my parents get me a lot... But me myself I really don't know. But all my Transformers toys together I would say around 500 (more than that but something around that). But everything in my room not just TFs, in the thousands.

In my adult collecting career... probably a tad over a thousand bucks. A lot of my collection is stuff that I had as a kid, or that my brothers had and grew out of, and I've been sourcing a lot of second-hand stuff in the last couple of years.
Of course, toys here cost twice what they do in the US, so my collection's a lot smaller than the figure might imply.

Aug 11 2008, 08:16 AM
Well most of my collection I actually got from my parents at various points while growing up. So I'd say they spent maybe $600-$700 maybe. It's probably lower, but I forget how many Tf's I actually have.
On my own though I haven't actually spent too much. All in total probably around $220. That'll change soon because of the accursed little Robot Heroes.

Aug 12 2008, 07:06 PM
Well..I just spent a little more than $1,500 on G1 stuff in past 6 months. That is just insane. So I can only imagine what the total price is thus far for my collection for the past ten years

I have too many boxes full. I will probably be getting orders to go overseas soon. This sucks as I will have to lighten my collection. I don't know that I'd want to keep them in my storage unit here in the states for 2 years. I've been having great will power lately. This month, I only bought animated Soundwave, Deep space Starscream, and the SDCC Nemesis Prime. Oh, and my daughter got the animated motorcycle with the ram head on the handlebars. Whatever his name is.

I going to say anywhere between 4000 and 5000.
This year however has been an all time low with maybe $100 spent so far.
Three movie figures and three animated figures so far.

Add another $37.50 for an almost complete Omega Supreme he was only missing ankle pieces F&H though I thought there was one whole side so I bought E&F only to find out the other piece I need is H. I bought E&F for $6.50, and now that I know I need H I've bought it for $9.99, and I'll be making my own yellow shields for his big leg halves to stay together, and I'm going to have to fix his machinery. It may be as simple as cleaning the battery terminals to as difficult as replacing the motor, and gears. If the later is the case then I'll be posting a how to.
