According to the report at Slashfilm.com Shia called the producers of the Transformers sequel to inform them that his pinky finger may have to be removed due the immense damage it suffered during his July 27th vehicular accident. Director Michael Bay has already stated that filming around the injury has been an effort and we can only imagine the amount of havoc having to work around this new development would bring.

My only point if any was these kids just make to god damn much money and need to be reigned in before stuff like this happens.

Also you don't have to be rich and famous to own a car and aquire alcahol. Some kids though are smarter than that. I'm sure a lot of us were 22 at one time, had money, a car, and above all were smarter than this.

My record is clean(can't believe it) but I know alot of people who have DUIs for just getting in a car drunk. Case in point, my friend Karen will be getting her license back next year, cause she was sleeping in her car in a Burger King parking lot with the engine running for the heater.

A key in the ignition and a hint of booze is all a cop needs to take you in.

Either way, I'm a great driver, I do it as part of my living, I've never caused an acident, but I still wear my seatbelt cause who knows what the other guys on the road are up to!?!

I'm a careful driver, I have to much riding on my ability to do so not to be. That doesn't mean I should bust out my soapbox, cause especialy on the road, anything can happen weither you had a shot or not.

I guess if I had to lose a finger, a pinky would be the one. I met a guy without a pinky once, it was hard to notice it was gone when shaking his hand.

Also, I had a principal who was missing all three fingers between his pinky and thumb one one hand...he would come up behind students and pinch them on the neck with his claw, it was creepy.

I think the 2 issues here, as some people have noticed are:

1) it sucks for anybody to have to go through this kind of medical treatment. We can be INTERNET a$$holes all we want - but none of us know what happened, or who is at fault or anything. Bottom line - someone got hurt.

2) Mr. Scotty, ILM and your principal have ZERO to do with this issue - they didn't lose fingers in the middle of shooting.
So yeah - I'm sure Shia can work around his disability for the rest of his career BUT this is going to seriously hamper the TRANSFORMERS MOVIE currently shooting. You know that film about the hobby we all supposedly love and support.

It just seems like we all might be a little more aware and/or sensitive.

Considering the whole"Star has learned exclusively." line makes me think (though the doctors said amputation is possible, if they don't watch his condition a day or so after Shia's surgery) the story is a load of tabloid bunk.

Like you'd notice a missing finger in that scene.

Yep. Having to learn to dig wax out of your ear with a different finger does take many months to rehab and therapy.

But seriously, if this is true, I feel sorry for him. Amputation is a major thing to get over/recover from/however you want to phrase it.

Well, someday, all movies will be done in CG and we won't have to even bother with conversations like this. All joking aside, what role is his character going to have in this movie? Is he going to save the world again?! He may have been an integral part of the first movie, but he doesn't need to be the focus of this sequel. They should just phase his character out. It's really more about the Transformers anyway. I don't think too many kids were clamoring for a Shia LaBeouf action figure.

I went to school with a kid who was missing both his pinky and ring finger on both his hands. We called him Ninja Turtle. We all found it funny, this kid included. I stopped when I found out he was a cousin (our grandmothers are first cousins).

As for the amputation...I feel bad if it does happen. If not great. However, my mother crushed her hand stopping a door from closing in on her stupid young kid who wasn't paying attention to where he was going and she still has all five fingers.

that's a bit harsh, we don't know how much he had, it's probably a safe bet he wasn't bladdered (if he was then I still wouldn't say he deserves this.)

hope it all goes well for him, doubt he'll be doing it again that's for sure.
