sad tidings in Atlanta

anyone who ever watched the braves heard his sarcasm and wit.

one time i remember him calling a game in Tampa, he referred to the picture on Tampa's wall as a black blob. Pete corrected him and told him it was a devil ray. Skip said "oooooohhhh, so thats a devil ray, well you could've fooled me". back in the 80's, when the braves sucked, he referred to the braves as going to the slaughter. but we all loved him. when they took him off for being to cynical people around here wrote the station and quit watching until they put him back on. anytime anyone caught a ball you'd here Skip saying "Fan makes a great play out in left field, he's from Snellville Georgia" (of course he had no idea where the fan was from but it was good fun.) he also did BS traffic reports. its easy enough he just always said all the streets were jammed going out of Atlanta...he was always right.

That's terrible. I love the Braves. Skip was the best. He hasn't announced many TV games this year either. He was the best to listen to. He would also say the fan that caught the foul ball was from Valdosta, GA as well. He would say some BS about being given a seating chart before the game. You can't keep track of thousands of people sitting in a stadium and where they are from. laughlol.gif

He will definitely be missed.

yeah, he always picked random towns to use. funnie as hell though.

That's too bad...and I haven't been watching the Braves any this year, you know, because of all the losing.

Damn that sucks! The Braves have always been my favorite team and Skip my favorite announcer.....I still remember the call in game seven of the '91 NLCS that basically started an era......
