Ok, so I'm seeing/reading about how Galvatron has been sighted in TRU's all over. Well, I was out last night and saw him, so I figured yeah (why not). I opened him today and I must say that I don't think I've been more disappointed in a tf (in all my life as a collector). I will say that the pic on the back does look pretty sweet!
First, I was surprised on the size. I was expecting voyager or even ultra. I mean to finally get a Galvy for the U line, Ijust expected more (maybe my fault).
Second, I don't think I've had as much pieces/joints pop out of a tf when transforming him as I did w/ this guy. His legs have little ball joints that pop out at the knees.
Third, his arm/cannon popped off. Took me a couple of minutes to try to get the oragne hinge back in. (the list could go on but I'll stop).
Don't get me wrong! W/ all tf's I expect there to be flaws, but I was just amazed/disappointed w/ what I saw. Hopefully, it was just me. I'd love it if someone responded by saying I was crazy that their Galvy was really cool.
Standing up on my shelf, he will look cool though.

Basically what it comes down to, is the toy was designed to be a larger class, at least a voyager if not ultra. You can just look at it and see that. The problem of course is the money crunchers told them they had to make him a deluxe, the Hasbro panel told us as much at Botcon & SDCC. So basically what you see is a design, that while it would have been adequate or great at a larger scale, is shrunk so much that the connection pieces lack the strength/thickness to hold the toy together. Even the Hasbro guys gave the impression that they didn't like that decision and ended up not liking the end result, so it's possible (however very unlikely) that they may try to issue a different Galvatron in the near future, that isn't a tank. Logical conclusion would be the energon 2-pack Megatron repainted in full Energon Galvatron colors, and hopefully packed with a brand new mold voyager or ultra class Rodimus Prime (wishful thinking)

I'm on a fence about this guy. I THINK I would be able to fix him up, at least his ball joints, but his hinges I don't think I'd be able to, at least not easily. I'd rather wait until I see a topic about someone fixing him up so that he holds together well.

On my Galvatron only like 2 pieces popped off during the transformation. They only robot problem is the standing problem the worst problems in robot mode are the missle firing and his left arm detaching every once and a while.

Just bought mine today and the only things that popped off were the tank treads that fold onto the back and that's because
I applied too much force. Not because it's a bad toy. In fact, It's a great fargin toy! Those of you batching about the size of the figure seem to be missing something in life. I'm not sure what it is but the size of a toy matters not when it's transformation, posability and kick ass alt mode are all..... kick ass.

I think he's great.

I too fear opening him after all I've heard. I'm pretty sure I'll feel the same way about IronHide. They're nice, but just not right
They seem to fall short of what the figures should be. I'll suport them though in hopes that Has/Tak takes this as a sign to make further steps in bringing us propper representations of these characters.

I just always heard speak if you wanna be heard, so although my forum voice may fall on def ears, I try and make it a point to speak up anyway.
After all you never know, a single echo may be all it takes to turn a subpar cliffside into a superior passage way to something bigger and better.
Even if unabated, as long as it's unoffensive, I'll speak my mind even if it may just be screaming at the sky.
After all, whats the worst that can happen, I'll be doubted on the internet, hell that aint even a blip on my radar. Whats the best, maybe someone will take heed and listen.

DUDE I WANT YOUR CLOSET!^ You've got a TRU in your closet!?!?!?! JK Any who I don't know why everyone is still complaining about the size, and all this other stuff especially these according to some not being great representations of these G1 characters. Does anyone remember how horrid some of the G1 characters looked? Ironhide, and Ratchet didn't even have real heads let alone anything in the window "face" looking like a face add practically no posability, and you get a totally craptastic fig. Galvy wasn't much better huge hole in the top of his head no leg movement to speak of, a fricking horrid head sculpt that looked nothing like him, and the toy being no where near the color of the character in the movie, or on the show, and yes another craptastic figure. I think that both the Cl/U Ironhide, and Galvy look great, and as far as the cracking windows are concerned you could always take some really thin like .001" styrene (about as thick as a sheet of paper) and paint it a similar blue to that of the windows, and super glue them in place. Problem solved. As for Galvy I'll determin what if any improvements need to be made once I pick him up.

I agree that these are nice figures, even if only bullet points of detail pay homage to who they're supose to be.
However dont say G1 galvatron had no leg articulation. He could do a kick!
Not alot of G1 figures could do that.
I don't have Galvatron or Ironhide yet, but I can see where an eyebrow may be raised concering them. I just hope that suporting new molds now, will bring more acyrate ones later.

Yes, it is VERY obvious this guy was meant to be a bigger size. The complexity o the transform, combined with the articulation and detail, makes this very obvious.
That said, it is awesome to have a small scale puzzleformer. I had about 3 joints pop off whilst transforming him for the first time, but they all went back on smoothly. He just has a very massive feeling to him. I can't imagine what he must've been like in larger scale with that huge arm cannon!
... So am I the only one thinking he has an alternate transformation somewhere in there? He has a huge backpack with missile launchers on them that start life as his rear treads. But what makes me think he has an alt transformation is what is hidden in there. The instructions prompt you to pull out two triangular pieces that seem to have absolutely no function whatsoever. They don't add anything aesthetically, and they look like feet of all things!
Here's my thought: Somewhere this guy has a transform that looks like his G1 self, with side bracing and the like to make him look like a cannon. That's about the only thing I can think those two extra pieces do. So does anyone have any thoughts on how to make that work? Hell, they might just prop up the rear of the tank...
Edit: Found another weird, out of place piece.
On his left shoulder, there's a small cap that folds down to cover up the ball joint. If you look closely, there's an orange part there on a hinge. When you open it, it opens up into a small, unadorned hook. I think this is part of the alt form too, as it again seems to serve no practical purpose in robot or tank form... Well, the instructions indicate it is part of the robot form's decoration, but I don't really buy that.

Poor mighty Galvatron, the most powerful Transformer this side of Unicron, made puny. I'll agree with all of the other posters though..I really dig his transformation, I can get a lot of personality out of the madman's poses too. He's just too small for classics/ universe and he's painted poorly. TAKARA YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO! FIX HIM AND I'LL BUY FIVE!!! Until then he'll just hang with my Robotmasters. While I wait for the next Galvatron figure.

The only reason I'd ever buy a Galvatron figure is if he came with pre-recorded Leonard Nimoy lines. Galvatron is way ghey, IMO.

Not much to say really. I noticed the parts during his first transform (before I even got out of TRu's parking lot) but have since had little time to mess around and figure something out. I'm willing to bet that they're left over parts. Meaning, during the design process when/if they scaled him down he probably had another mode that they cut out/simplified him and either forgot to take these out or simply left them in for cost measures. Who knows...... I do know that eventually someone will make a fan mode.

Just picked up UC2.0 Galvatron.
Ingenius transformation. I mean a lot of thought went into this one.
It's got nice detailing, especially for a dlx, but as mentioned elsewhere, the joints aren't the greatest.
It feel's more like a movie dlx; all of the flimsiness and none of the automorph to blame it on.
However he feels, though, he definitely looks badass and imposing... if it weren't so small.
