It used to be a joke when people said they could connect anyone with Kevin Bacon using 6 people. Looks like it's not a joke anymore. A recent study by Microsoft utilizing their worldwide Messenger system has confirmed that there are 6.6 degrees of separation between any two people. Proof that, in fact, it is a small world after all.

It wasn't ever really a joke about Kevin Bacon. There was/is even a database system employed for the Kevin Bacon trick. Somthing like 80% of all actors were never more than a couple degrees away from Kevin. I myself am only a couple degrees away from him.
