I hope they bring Topher. He did a good job imo.

Marvel is really stepping up to the plate now.

Topher is not nearly pissed off and weight lifting enough to play Eddie Brock.

I'm starting to wonder at what point Marvel will oversaturate the market for superhero movies.

Especially because I don't think most of their characters are nearly as interesting to the general public as Marvel semms to think they are...

Fixed.

For example, I would totally see the movie where the Punisher is taking on Spider-Man, but I have no interest in a movie only about the Punisher. There are far too many random revenge action movies for the Punisher to stand out and be worth the time without conflicts with superpowered peoples.

I think Wolverine's got enough going on that a movie about just him works (even though they've filled the film to bursting with other Marvel Mutants, so it's hard to define it as "just him").

But Venom alone? Or Ant-Man? Or Thor? Not really gonna work, IMO.

When Carnage showed up and started killing and butchering a bunch of people, Venom decided to team up with Spidey to take him down.

Hobbes-timus Prime
The one benefit of doing a Venom movie is that you could explore the origins of just exactly what the black suit is and where it came from (since Spidey 3 really didn't)...but then you'd have to involve aliens or something, I guess...

...yeah, forget about that. It's just a bad idea.

I was gonna say, what would you do after the first five minutes?

And silly Hobbes, of course SM3 explained what the black suit is and where it came from -- it's an alien symbiote from outer space! tounge1.gif

Eating brains?

BTW IF and I mean IF they decided to bring Carnage into this I suggest Andy Dick to play Cletus Kasady. He kinda fits the mold of "out there".

or maybe the Joker since that roll is open now (btw I still have yet to see BM2 so I don't know if he died or not in the movie).

There can be no Venom story without Spider-Man. Otherwise he's just a big black gob that goes around eating people.

That's also called The Blob.

Although the idea of the suit existing beyond Eddie's death in SP3 and infecting other people - new characters, perhaps - intrigues me...but not in a "Marvel Studios" kinda way. More in a "Garth Ennis Comic" kinda way.

I like the idea! And, to help it stand apart from the lame SM3, totally disassociate it from the Spider-Man universe...you know, like Marvel did with "Elektra," where Daredevil and the events from the previous film were all but forgotten! That was a...great...move...by...

They based Brock's physical appearance off of the Ultimate version of him, where's a little son of a batch who found the suit after spidey cast it off.

Or maybe they didn't. That was my assumption too, but then I was like "why would that have to be what they did?" They might just not have wanted to have two beefy bad guys in the same film.

Maybe they just wanted him to look more like an evil mirror image of Spiderman, so they cast a guy who roughly had the same height and build of Tobey Maguire? Shrug.gif

I seem to recall official statements saying he was based off of the Ultimate version(Which I like better due to what the symbiote is in that version).

Spider-Man 2 and The Punisher(The new one) would like a word out back with you.

Spiderman 2 was made by Sony not Marvel - and no one has seen the new Punisher so it can't be used as evidence.

I was referring to the one made a few years ago, and making sure it wasn't confused with the 1980s' one. If I had meant the sequel, I would have used its' name(Punisher: War Zone). >.>

That entire Hulk thing is funny, they made a completely new Hulk movie that was supposed to be much more appealing and ended up with a movie that basically had equivalent performance to the first - and neither really performed better than those crappy Fantastic Four movies. I'm sorta thinking that the Hulk isn't nearly as popular as Hulk fan wants to believe.
