"Up until now, fans have been wondering what "Fallen" in the title "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" means. IDW Publishing spoke to MTV News about a five-part prequel mini-series entitled "Transformers: Destiny" that's set to bring the gap between the 2007 blockbuster and Summer 2009 sequel, revealing that the main villain in the new Michael Bay film will a character named The Fallen.

"[We're going to] explore the background of The Fallen — the main villain of the movie — as well as expand on the 'Reign of Starscream' story that we're doing and tie everything in to what this next movie is going to be," explained writer Chris Mowry. "The next movie starts out with just tons of action and there's obviously going to be a lot of questions, so we're hoping to answer some of those beforehand."

The Fallen is an incredibly powerful robot and one of the thirteen original Transformers - hellbent on vengeance."

it makes sense. that would be pretty sweet. i loved the war within series. would be cool to see how they do him in this movie.

awesome i loved the fallen they never showed him much though... I cant wait to see it in june next yr and on the poll on the link page it shows 95% are going to see the movie 2% will wait for the dvd and 2% say mabye and 1% say no.

I have this great fear of Bay skimming the mythos and just picking the story that had a TF who was on fire, cuz fire is cool.

Or it could be, you know, a fake leak.

I donno, I just don't see Bay and Co. opting to go with a second-rate comic only villain for a huge blockbuster movie. Using The Fallen just seems to fan-wanky for the movie franchise.

Unless, of course, Bay really was all, "He's on fire all the time? Fuck it, that's cool. He's in the sequel."

I could honestly see it going either way.

Despite claims to the contrary, the movie is pretty fan-wanky.

I just don't see the reason to delve into the suspension of disbelief challenging world of comic TF mythology, especially such outer canon orbitals as the original 13, when we haven't scratched the surface of the Autobot - Decepticon conflict beyond "We fight each other a alot."

What if Mr Bay's attempt at dis-information by saying that all rumours are fake, was yet another fake?

Seriously. I mean, what fueled the fire? Or for that matter, does Cybertron even have an atmosphere capable of oxidizing it?

Oh wait, I mixed rational thought with Transformers and Michael Bay. Bad idea.

EDIT: Wiki'd it, and saw that he had the power to control entropy. Breaking laws of thermodynamics probably helps in keeping a fire going forever.

Talking about stuff you haven't looked into. Another bad idea.

But when you think about it - from a modern audience's perspective - Megatron is a pretty obscure fanwanky choice as villain.

I don't see how this scary flame-tank is any more or less obscure to the average movie goer.

thats what I say most transformers are obscure to the mainstream unfortunately just like pretty much all supposedly "nerdy" things out there

all I know about the new movie is that Megatron might be brought back to life by the Autobots as a tank. (I heard that off of G4TV so I dunno)

I hope that is a rumor. They already had a tank (Demolisher). In a post I did for the first movie, I still think Megatron would make a great International Smart Truck 3.

I say that info was leaked along time ago, and Bay is just covering up for future leaks by saying its all fake. Believe what you FIRST hear (basically) is MO. *imo

This Fallen character sounds kinda scary.
