Needs to be moved to GD this is news and rumors.

Simpsons wasn't all that funny. The plot was great but the idiocy was pretty distracting and not all that clever. South Park BLAU or Team America was a lot funnier and the humor was consistent throughout.

Transformers has it's funny bits but what big budget over produced action movie doesn't. This was basically Diehard with Giant f*cking Robots.

Seeing as Simpsons was just a episode only a lot longer and with half as many laughs and Transformers was a first time move with ground breaking CGI, and action scenes a lot of us have never seen outside a cartoon Transformers IMO is the better movie by far.

I've had medical problems that were funnier than the Simpons movie.

(Seriously, the delirium from my last bout of "Crazy bastard flu type thing" was brilliant)

Simpsons would have been a good 3 part episode.

I liked the Simpsons movie but I prefer Transformers. smiletf.gif

the simpsons is 15 years old, or close to that by the time the movie came out. transformers is older but they've had so many reboots and different timelines that simpsons gets the win in the comedy dept. it was the same as it's ever been but was still funny enough to laugh at. that's gotta say a lot. as an over all movie transformers gets the win because it was unique. the simpsons could've easily been a multiweek episode and nobody would've noticed. but really we're comparing apples to oranges. one is a comedy the other is a sci-fi action movie.

I didn't like the Simpsons movie.. I watched it and went .. "Meeehh"

I thought the Simpsons Movie was hilarious, like when Homer jumps out of the tree into the sinkhole and starts flippin' birds at everyone as he slowly (too slowly) sinks- classic!

TF def. had its moments of humor; Sam's parents were a great duo, can't wait to see them again. (Confession, I have the hots for Sam's mom. What can I say, I'm getting older...)

Well, you're kind of comparing apples and oranges here.

On one hand, you have the Simpsons; an animated prime-time TV show that has consistently run for almost 20 years in its first motion picture release. I thought it was hilarious throughout (someone earlier said South park movie and Team America were funnier, and they really were if vulgarity and fart/poop jokes are your thing, inspired political/social comedy they are most definitely not), and much better than your average episode. But I am a Simpsons geek, and have been since their premier on the Tracy Ullman Show 20 years ago.

OTOH, you have Transformers; a live-action version of an animated kid's toy advertisement show that has somewhat consistently run for 20 years, but with several reboots along the way to keep it fresh and new for the "Pokemon:Gotta Catch 'Em All" crowd. It had all the usual parts that your average Summer Blockbuster has: a little comedy, a little "romance" (read: sex), and a whole lot of explosions. Plot wise, you have to admit, this was not a great movie. Dn't get me wrong, I am not slamming it at all. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the TF movie as I had set my expectations SO low as to not be disappointed.

Sorry, they're just 2 different animals for me, and I like them both more than the other for different reasons.

And I'm sorry, but this:

cracked my ass up.

So South Park social commentary with fart jokes is a no no, but Simspon's attempt at social commentary with dork jokes is the high time?

Cool Hand Lube
Well, now you're just being silly and putting words in my mouth. I just said that one scene makes me laugh. And What social commentary does South Park make, anyway? That fucking your uncle is funny somehow?

Uh, a social commentary about censorship, mostly.

South Park is an, often damning, commentary on American (you could stretch it to western) society, values, sensibilities, pop culture. The running theme is that the young minds still to be indoctrinated by society see events with much more clarity and reason than their ‘wiser’ elders.

The Simpsons is a gag show based around the premise of a dysfunctional family’s love for each other
+ lots of funny foreigners.

Transformers is about giant alien robots fighting each other.

I like them all but a movie with Mr Burns, Cartman and Starscream sat around a table supping beer and talking BS would be my idea of cinema heaven.

I think comparing the two is a bit...pointless.

Hobb's wins the thread.

I'm not a huge fan of South Park or dick/fart jokes but the social commentary is what makes the movie work. That and the parents opting to go to war with Canada over something as useless as an R rated film. It's so contradictory it's rediculous.

Team America worked because it did everything to satirize the increasing amount of idiotic action films coming out of America each year as well as Americas patronage often expressed in Bay styled movies. Also thought it was great how they poked fun at 80s cartoon serials like GIjoe, and Thunderbirds.

During Simpsons I thought it was all just more of the same silly irrelevence. The flipping off Springfield was pretty funny and I liike the scene with Homer on the motorcycle and how that tied into the ending.

Transformers again was cool but I haven't watched it since buying the dvd last year. It's entertaining and ILM does a great job of making everything about it somewhat believable. For a toy line film, Transformers delivers on everything Bay promissed. It's not the greatest movie ever made but considering the source material, and what Bay had to translate into a believable urban setting did a really good job of it. Hoping for better/bigger the second time around but if not the first will still remain a great stand alone film for me. Kinda like Matrix and POTC befor they got turned into ghey franchises.
