I swear I think actually being able to play an instrument messes you up on those games.

You would be correct. The first time I played Guitar Hero I realized that I knew how to play most of the songs in the game on a real honest to God guitar. I was all "Mississippi Queen, huh? Yeah, dial that shit on Expert 'cause I'm about to rock the house."
So after I failed the song within the first 15 seconds I tried it on easy.
And failed it again.
