I got a hold of a second alt. prime & didn't want to do the usuall repaints of nemesis & magnus. But I noticed he looked like he could be turned into an alt. Longhaul. Just need to know if there is a testors color for his G1 green & purple or do i need to mix paints? & should I get someone to sculpt an accurate head for me or repaint Prime's & cut off antennas on side of head?

I don't know if there's pre-made colours in the 'right' shades by testors, I guess it wouldn't hurt to look. If you can't find them you could browse other brands or mix up your own.

As for the head, I think an Alt. Hound head would be perfect. If you could get a hold of one of those it could save you some time.
I guess you could hack up Prime's head to give it a shot, but I think that could be quite difficult to get it right.

If you want to get someone to sculpt you a head, I'd suggest Valkfan or a guy at TFW known as Sculpt-bot.

If you wanted to give sculpting a go yourself there's this handy tutorial by Sculpt-bot.

G1 head shouldn't be as hard to mod from alt prime's.

ok i found a green that will work perfectly, its even liscense through Dodge. but the purple is a problem its like a metallic grape color but I tried spraying it on the feet but wouldn't show up due to the black. Is my purple too dark or should I have used a brush rather than spray? Also I tried nail polish remover & needless to say I left it in too long & it got alittle mushy so can anyone make resin copies of the feet?

Not sure where to get resin copies, have you looked in the parts thread to see if anyone is getting rid of theirs?

Sorry to hear about your run-in with nail polish remover. For future reference, nail polish remover is not a kitbasher's friend. If you do use it, only in minute amounts. (even then, I can't think of it being a good idea.)

Can you get a picture of the purple paint you're using it? I'm not sure on if it's too dark or not. Either way, when you're doing a dark on dark color, you might get the best effect by putting a lighter color(like a gray or white) on top of the source/base piece, letting it dry, and then topping it with the new color.

Yeah, it'd probably be cheaper just to check the endcap and trade/buy a loose Alt Prime rather than get resin copies of the feet. The plus side to that is you have more parts for mistakes lessons.

First off, try checking Krylon's line of colors. if they don't have it, try Testors Model Master line of acryllic paints. As for a head sculpt, I believe sector70 has backed up f/ Transtopia an awesome article on how to scultp one yourself EASILLY.
