Hehe. Awww =)

My 3 year old niece is running around making jet noises and yelling "I'm Starscream!!! I turn into a robot!!! Now. I. Am. A. Robot."
She's decided that she likes Ultra Magnets more than Opamus Prime.

Oh and she wanted me to transform some Starscreams and Alt Mirage and promised she wouldn't touch Uncle Johnny's toys. I think I got off easy on this one =)

She's still a couple of years too young for Transformers but maybe I'll get her hooked one day. My friend's 5 year old is loving Animated and thinks it's really cool that I have Starscream.

Um I guess this thread can be about little ones and Transformers. Share stories please! =)

Absolutely great post! I'm so happy to be sharing Transformers with my kids---1 seven year old boy and 3 girls, aged 5, 3 and a newborn. The first 3 love the new show and loved Cybertron and now my brother and I are sharing the G1 episodes with them---it's been really great! I just wish there were more FEMALE Transformers toys for the girls---HASBRO, are you listening? Girls like Transformers too! They fly em around the room just as much as my son. . .

Man, that's great! I have a daughter who's almost 4, and she's only a bit into TFs and robots. I managed to get her excited about the McDonald's Animated figs, but when she saw the Littlest Pet Shop toys, I lost her. She did get a TFA Optimus Prime by mistake the other day, and she's taken to him, so there's still hope.

Whenever she sees something new in the house, she asks, "Does it transform?" Maybe I am getting to her. 07dance.gif I wish she could watch Animated, but like you, I too think she's a little too young. She does know, somehow, who the bad "guys" are among my Animated toys- Starscream and Megatron in particular.
Azure_Dragoon
Yeah, Bella knows Starscream's a bad guy, but he's her favorite because he's MY favorite.

She's temporarily lost interest in favor of tortu- ahem playing with the raccoon and the kitten. My Saint Bernard is making sure no one plays too rough. Which is good if you're a kitty and the most fragile of the bunch.

Hopefully she won't ask me to turn Nibbles into a starship like she keeps asking me to do to other things...

My 2 year old Daughter is nuts about TFs. Ever since I got the animated DVD. She always loved Beast Wars whenever I put it on.

She can name the entire cast of the Transform and Roll Out. Plus Unicron for some reason... She can Transform most of the happy meal toys. (the ones she can't are the ones with arms that stick.)

Anybody know if they make Animated Coloring books?

The other day I went to a McD's with my daughter and when we ordered her Happy Meal, I asked if they had "any Starscream, the Jet?" (cuz we didn't have one) the Mclady behind the counter looked us over and said, very condescendingly, "Our girl toys are little pets.". I wanted to pull her over the counter, I thought my wife was gonna.

grr.gif thats waaaaay lame. Sorry to hear. My McD's kept aside 2 6 pc sets for me without even me knowing. tounge1.gif

GREAT thread Azure! Love it. My son is 3 now, but when he was 1 yrs old he would pull on mommys shirt to "signal" he wanted to watch Transformers Cybertron dvd. Granted he only watched the intro then, but as time progressed he watched more & more. By the time the movie was on dvd he wanted to watch it with me via sitting on my lap while watching a small laptop screen. He made it through the ENTIRE thing without leaving once. The FIRST movie he ever watched (or TV show) the whole thing.

After that, he wanted Transformers so i gave him some 3 yr old bumper battlers type things. Jazz, Rathet, and Ironhide. Plus a few months ago i bought him a Optimus Prime Cyber Stomper. He says its his "BEST TOY EVER"

When he comes over one of the first things he says to me is, "i anna atch AnsOmers" *translation* "I wanna watch Transformers" icon_wink.gif That means he wants to watch Animated.png. I bought him the whole set of McDonalds TFs for his Bday which is the 21st of THIS month. So yeah, me & the BOY have great :lov for Transformers & its a special thing.

Oh plus a Animated.png coloring book he can do whatever it is 3 yrs do with them.

My niece Katie, I taught her right away about Robots. She loves them more than all the girlie crap her mom wants her to play with. On her first day of school, she marched off brave with her Energon Optimus Prime back pack, and to this day boys in her class cry cause she's got the toys they want.

She's still a perfect princess of a little girl, but she isn't one sided.

That attitude spread as now her whole GirlScout Troop is into these figures and asks me to tell them stories about them. Every year I play Santa for them and her class and yep, Bratz and Barbie are out, TFs are in.

For a while parents complained about that, but with alittle time, I convinced them that a hands on interchangable toy is better then a made up hooker doll.

So anyhow, keep up the good work, and learn em good while ya can!
Goktimus Prime
I do that kind of thing in public IRL! But people tend to give you weird stares when you're an adult doing it. :/

A few years ago I walked into a comic book shop with some other Transformer fans - I had Spy Streak in my hand and as I walked into the store I made jet engine/flying noises then pretended to shoot at some MOSC DC comic figures on some pegs (by making firing noises). The store manager then walked up to me and shouted at me, "GET OUT MY STORE! WE DON'T PUT UP WITH THAT KIND OF BEHAVIOUR IN HERE!"

I got out... but um... hello? You own a shop that sells comic books and toys. Have a reality check mate. tounge1.gif Most people I've spoken with who've had frequent dealings with that manager (including people who've worked for him) say that he's a dick. tounge1.gif

She can identify G1, BW, and Ani, Prime, BB, and Megs. Not bad for a 2 year old!

She also runs around pretending to use Sari's key. Why don't they make a toy of that yet?

My 3yo son LOVES TFs. I have most of my favorite ones at work and I keep some up in a closet at home in our "toy room." Everyday I will bring one home from work and take one of the "closet toys" back to work to replace it. Then I'll let me son play with a closet toy when I'm with him every evening. Whenever I come home he asks, "Did you bring a new toy?" And later, "Can we play with closet toys?" My 1.5yo daughter is also growing on them. She really enjoys playing with "wobots."

My son enjoys sitting on my lap and watching TFA on our computer (we don't get cable). He'll sit there perfectly still and watch entire episodes. He also likes watching YouTube TOY REVIEWS. He'll sit there and watch 10 minute reviews of toys then ask me to bring it home. He thinks I own every TF ever made and doesn't understand that I can't bring home Animated Bulkhead smiletf.gif
He also loves the movie scenes that feature the TFs. He knows almost all the TF character names from the movie and can recognize pretty much any Prime, Starscream, or Bumblebee. His favorite toy is Leader movie Prime. When he's refering to a movie toy, he'll call it "Ratchet Mikayla and Sam," Bumblebee Mikayla and Sam," etc. smiletf.gif

My nephew Isn't a Transformers fan like I am, but he does like them. He likes both the 86 and 07 movies. Also when I got Masterpiece Megatron I left the box sitting around and my nephew opened it up to see what was in the box and he took a liking to the little Kremzeek figure so I showed him the episode on YouTube, and he thought It was really cool. 07dance.gif

Last Christmas my Step-dad's sister and her family came over for Christmas lunch. She has a 4 year old boy and a 3 year old girl.

Anyway about half way through lunch theycame up to me and asked, rather shyly, if they could play in my room with my Transformers. They'd been wandering through the house and had seen my collection of movie figures sitting on my floor and their eyes just lit up.

They then went about creating a little story where the Autobots (plus Barricade - who had decided to become an Autobot) were travelling to a new location but were attacked by Starscream who would fly in, firing his missiles with a few phwosh sounds. They loved Optimus Prime and the Bumbebee in particular - it was even good that I had both the old and new Bumblebee - that way they could play with one each. I spent my time watching over them, careful that nothing would get broken - and also became the one who would transform the figures for them.

They loved having so many Transformers to be able to play with at once, as their parents don't have enough disposable income to spare on toys. However they now apperently have a few Transformers of their own to play with themselves.

My son and daughter fight over which transformer they get to transform with Daddy before bed everynight.

I think it's because if a parent accidentaly bought one for a boy, the boy wouldn't want to play with it because it's a girl that uses it in the show.

My wife's friend has a young son who likes Transformers (he has a few moofie Legends) and he always wants to go to my collection room and play with my toys. His mum spoils him pretty badly so I've had to lay a few ground rules for him, being:
1) Consent: He can't go into my collection room or touch any of my Transformers without my permission
2) Pack up: All toys that he has been allowed to play with must be returned to their original state (i.e.: on the shelf and in the same mode that the toys were found in)
...any infringement of these rules may mean that he is banned from my collection room for a given period of time (like a time out).

He understands these rules and the consequences attached to them very well and ever since I've put them in place I haven't had any problems with him playing with my toys. smiletf.gif

Why does Hasbro think it's 1953?

Food for thought: would you be comfortable to see your son playing with dolls?

I was in a Toys'R'Us store doing my rounds looking for Marvel Megamorphs Wolverine and Transformers that I need for my UNIQUE MOULDS yada yada..
2 Instances struck me as heartbreakingly sweet.

1) A girl about 4 or 5 was with her moma and dadda and she saw the Transformers and ran over to them, her father looked overjoyed, her mother said to her "Hey Lucy lets go and look at the dollies" The girl responded in no uncertain terms "But I don't like dollies I like Wo-Bots". I didnt stay around for long enough to see if she got one, I was too damned creased up with laughter and had to head to the Bionicle section to stop laughing...

2) A girl of about 7 or 8 was with her bro probably about 4 or 5. They looked through the Transformers and the girl picked up DX BumbleBee saying "Oh cool BumbleBee's in I'm gonna get that one" sure enough she picked it right off the shelf, her bro looked forward and said "Its not fair I cant choose between Jazz and LandMine".... Oh hell this is gonna be a tantrum I thought.... Nope, his sister said to him "Get Landmine for yer self and we will share Jazz I like him hes cute" they walked off to their mom and dad with them... Oh shot this is gonna be bad... Nope thanks to my hearing being so good I heard her mom say "You know what I will buy the silver one for you two for being so nice".....

My daughter (turns 3 in November) digs TFs. If you ask her "What does Optimus Prime say?" she'll tell you "Transfoam and row out!" She saw daddy and big brother coming home with a bunch of Animated.png figures and asked me "Where's mine, daddy?" I told her that I'd get her one one day (I was waiting to find the Activator Bumblebee.) I said "As soon as daddy finds one at Wal-Mart, I'll get you a little Bumblebee." Every time we passed Wal-Mart from that point on, she would say "There's Wah-Mott, where daddy get my lilluh Bumbabee (little Bumblebee.)"

Finally found one for her last week, she was excited and hasn't put him down yet.

Yeah. Not Bratz I suppose, but that goes for my daughter as well.

My daughter started "transforming" the other day. She says something dramatic then folds herself up and crawls forward a bit then says something else dramatic and jumps up back into robot mode.

um.... this is awkward.... uhhhh......

I've liked Transformers since I was about 7, but haven't become a huge fan until Animated. Unfortunately, no adults I know are collectors icon_sad.gif but I have a few friends who like them, but not as much as me tounge1.gif I'm actually about to sell A few other TFs and non-related on ebay to make room/money for TFA. I'll prolly make a topic.

so yea....... hehe....

Not at all because I don't like dolls and then I would have to spend money on toys I don't like for him.
I had a Cabbage Patch Kid and some Rainbow Brite toys for awhile when I was a kid. If I still liked dolls, then it would be ok smiletf.gif

My son does that too. He's Bumblebee, I'm Optimus Prime, my wife is Ironhide, my dad is Megatron... smiletf.gif
At night he'll say to us, "Goodnight, Octimus Prime and Ironhide. I love you, Octimus Prime and Ironhide." "We love you too, Bumblebee."

Ace thread, have some stars.

Not a tale about kids (being a uni student, I don't know too many), but my girlfriend had staunchly avoided transformers throughout her entire life, thanks to her having an older brother, although she did grow up on a diet of lego and computer games (she rocks). Anyway, i got the softimus prime/slumblebee two pack about a month or so into our relationship, already being a big transformers collector by that point.

We were gonna not see each other for a while over a set of holidays, so i kinda semi forced slumblebee upon her. Now she can't help but keep him near hermost of the time. I think i may slowly be converting her smiletf.gif

So you'd only support his hobby or interests if they happened to coincide with your own? Hypothetically speaking, if your son were to show serious interest in collecting Bratz, would you get some for him? Would you be fine if he collected dolls with his own allowance money and/or money earnt from jobs (e.g.: washing neighbours' cars, mowing lawns, paper runs etc)?

I wasn't serious. That's why I had a smiley face at the end.
If he showed interest in Bratz I wouldn't mind getting him some. My daughter loves stuffed animals and I don't care for them, but we still get them for her and love seeing her play with them.
Prime-Collector
I typed several anti bratz pro tolerance of children's preferences, no matter the inclination it may point to, but I feel that this would derail a cool topic about how TF cool our kids are.

Last night my daughter engaged in a series of attacks on a rocking chair with a foam in the name of saving Sari.

I'm really glad of the inclusion of a good female child identification character in the new Transformers. Kudos to Cartoon Network.

I've got a niece who'll be 2 in August. She LOVES my transformers and always gets into them. But fortunately she knows to be GENTLE with them and not smash them around. She always brings them to me, asking me to transform them.

When she found Movie Screamer she kept flying him around making jet sounds. It was cute. I handed her Classics Prime one time and she made this SUPERB engine sound, better than I can do, which is EMBARRASSING.

She hooked on Transformers already, I think. I'm going to be giving her some of my simple ones that she can't choke on. So that means g'bye RID Armorhide and this one Gobot I have.

Lucky for me, though, I'm getting another set for Bruticus in a couple days (EBAY!) so losing Armorhide isn't a problem.

Lol. Ultra Magnets, that's cute. My Daughter called every transformer Optimus and she wanted me to Transformer them into a car

Since I am a kid, some of my friends play with them (and two of them collect) transformers. So, nothin' really to say about this.

Yeah I wonder why Hasbro isn't giving the girl TF fans any love. My 8 yr old daughter has been waiting since I got the 20th anni DVD for an Arcee from the movie. She didn't really like the '07 Movie Arcee figure because she wasn't the pink car, and now she's really hoping for an Animated series Arcee.

My older son who is 11 has been playing with TFs since he was 6 months old. His first TF was Transmetals Cheetor who after about 2 weeks of me showing him how he was able to transform. When he was 3 I got him Optimal Optimus which he still haves in about 80% complete condition to this very day.

My younger son who was just born today at 4:35 pm has quite a while before he'll be ready for TFs but I think I'll give him a Robot Heroes fig or 2 when he's hmm I guess about 6 months as long as he isn't putting toys into his mouth (a problem my older son didn't have so I doubt my new little one will). I might even get him one of the lil kid TFs which wasn't an option when my 11 year old was 6 months.
djjess
My one year old son stops whatever he is doing when the Animated theme comes on and starts dancing. He also does it to the theme of the Daily Show.

I teach third grade and my students go crazy the first time they see a couple of Transformers on my desk. They're like, "Is that a Transformer!? You like Transformers!? Then it really blows their minds when I know more about TF than they do.
