Does anyone else think Sentinel Prime is an updated G1 Dion? They look similar, in terms of color scheme.

Sentinel, Optimus and Elita-1 were friends in Animated Continuity.

Dion, Orion and Elita-1 were friends in G1 continuity.

For years, people speculated about Dion's fate, with popular theories emerging that he was either Ironhide or Ultra Magnus.

But I think TF: ANIMATED just gave us our answer.

Actually, he looks a lot like The Tick after Borg assimilation.

IMO it seems that Prime was never Sentinels friend they were rivals and Elita-1 was the trophy girl I guess

Sentinel Prime looks the way he does to homage The Tick, seeing as The Tick and Animated SP share a voice actor.

I've been thinking he looked a lot lick the tick for a month now! I'm not the only one! (And now news of shared voice actor? Makes total sense!)

He even had a very Tick-esque line in "Along Came a Spider". "Energon-y goodness" which proceeded to get looks from Prime and Elita with Prime saying "Did he really just say Energon-y goodness?".

(o_O) (O_o) Their colour scheme is nothing alike. Sentinel Prime is primarily dark blue with some minor orange highlights on his forearms, head, collar and plow. He has more grey accents throughout his body than orange. Dion on the other hand is primarily a lighter blue with pearl white on his face, forearms and upper legs. Orange is also a far more dominant colour on this character with his head, upper arms, waist and back-mounted vehicle kibble. There are no greys on this character. Sentinel Prime does indeed look more like The Tick and Dion looks more like Wheelie (hence why the toy is a repaint of Wheelie!).

They share similar colours - i.e.: blue and orange, but they certainly don't share a similar colour scheme. And if that's the basis of your hypothesis, then how do you know that Sentinel Prime isn't a homage to any other blue and orange Transformer, such as Huffer, Punch, Icepick, Powertrain, Mudslinger, Tackle, Rollout, Hydraulic, Heavy Tread, Gusher, Terror-Tread, Dai Atlas, Windbreaker, Skram etc etc??

Well, for one thing, besides the colors, Elita, Prime and Dion are a trio of friends.

Nobody established what happened to Dion.

So I kinda figured:

Optimus Prime was Orion Pax.

Sentinel was Dion.

Elita was Ariel.


We can infer from Autoboot Camp that they were renamed at Boot Camp/Autobot Academy. They're a trio of friends. So it makes sense if you have an Optimus and Elita that the blue and orange guy is Dion.

More like:

Orion Pax - Optimus Prime

Ariel - Elita 1

Dion - Pile of scrap metal

If they were renamed at boot camp, why would Optimus get the name Optimus? Wasn't he supposed to be a washout? Wouldn't it make more sense for him to be named Suckitron?

Suckitron Prime has a nice ring to it, actually.

He was washed outta the academy-- which is probably closer to Officer's School than Basic Training. He'd either already gone through boot camp (and you name doesn't seem to be changed even if you DO fail at boot camp-- Wasp is still Wasp, even though they could easily have renamed him Traitorbot, and Longarm is still Longarm despite his high status) or skipped that step entirely and tested into/paid lots of currency for a higher level of education and training.

(Also, online English-to-Latin translators tell me that "Irritus Prime" is probably more Autobot-ish. <3 -tron is more of a Deception suffix~ though I do think the name you've posited actually means something like "sucky one," hee.)

Maybe it isn't in G1 continuity but perhaps it is finally a remake of G1.

Also Blitz, it is more like G1 then any other continiutys to be fair. But true enough. It ISNT G1 & thats for sure. *sigh*

I just remembered that Ultra Magnus doesn't even exist in G1 Season 1 & 2 continuity, and was only introduced during the movie. So considering that Dion is a season two background character, he's more likely to be Tracks, because I just picked him at random.

If Dion is anybody it's Huffer. They both share a, or have a similar, colour scheme.

Orion Pax, red and blue robot--->Optimus Prime, red and blue robot
Ariel, pink and white robot--->Elita One, pink and white robot
Dion, blue/purple and yellow robot--->Huffer, blue/purple robot and yellow robot

Plus Dion being left behind while Ariel and Orion were rushed to be repaired would explain Huffer's pessimism.

Yeah, but Huffer's really lame, and Dion is this awesome guy that just stood there and go shot once.
