Full Version: Universe Marlboor Wheel Jack by Backfire
That is Slick - Nice digibash ! Wheeljack is one of the G1 characters who really deserves a well-done Classics Figure. They could even do this cool Diaclone deco as the repaint. Thanks for sharing, Backfire.
That looks really good Backfire. There is one problem with it though I just got Sunstreaker and the transformation gimmick might get in the way of those big "ears". When you turn the car top for the chest his head comes out and the "ears" fold out from the sides of the head. Also it is rather tight in the area the head goes into. It'll work if you cut the "ear" size down by about half, or make the lower "ears" fold up behind or in between the upper "ears'" pieces.
To be honest I was looking at Sunstreaker last night and thinking about all of the possible repaints I could do and Wheeljack was one of them, as was Redalert, Clampdown, and even Punch Counter Punch. For Punch/Counter Punch I'd just have to rig a visor or something for the one side, and pop the hands out to switch them to the right sides for the different characters.

I think I MUST make the Marlboor version, just because somehow I kinda got hooked
on the potential character.
I would not use a cast of the DC head, but rather retool the Sunstreaker head so that it would include the visor and show off that the toy/character has a mouth. I could probably make it so that the sides of his head fold up like SS's do, or else something along the lines of them folding forward...but why mess with the mech that's already present, folding up will work one way or another.
It will look better once I prime it and paint white, and add the red to get the body colored correctly. I have scans and materials to make decals, as I have done with the custom DC MB Wheeljack I made before so that will be easy.
I was thinking about using gell or something to make the windshields blue, however they are so dark already I'm not sure I can.
In the old Transformers Quake 2 game, they have a WheelJack mold which they simply recolored to make Sunstreaker, so this is rather the reverse of that. I might even consider retooling the front end to give it a slightly different look. Could do away with the lights and put a grill in.
Would also consider something to add his wings, wonder if I can figure something to incorporate missile launchers as well...

If I was made of Money I'd love to make the other 3 versions of SS alone (black, white, red) but $ the way it is...maybe just a digibash...

Well I'm thinking about getting 10 more Sunstreakers/ Sideswipes. I found a bunch of different paint jobs/ reheads on iaconcity.com.
Sideswipe, and Sunstreaker of course, then there's Redalert, Warrant, both are white with rescue details Redalert is Sideswipe transform with fire chief, Warrant is Sunstreaker transform with police decals, another white version is Clampdown another Sideswipe transform with a different head and police decals. Then there's Deepcover who is a Sideswipe transform version that is black with blue as the secondary color also could be called G2 Sideswipe, Tigertracks who is a yellow Sideswipe transform version with a different head, and Hellraiser who is a red Sunstreaker. Then I want to make Wheeljack, and Marlboor Wheeljack or as the guy on iaconcity.com calls him Breakout. The only other one would be Punch/ Counterpunch.

I've begun working on my Wheeljack, and he's slightly over 1/2 done. He's painted white, and I've painted the racing stripes.
