Rounding out the first wave of Universe figure reviews is Sunstreaker, the first of the original car brothers to roll out on this line. He's also one of the most anticipated figures to come out as of yet for Universe. See how he stacks up

Paint sucks on this fig same as Prowl. At least on mine anyway. I've got two slits on the "ears" that have almost no yellow....
"One strange quirk I found is an interchangeability of sorts. The arms and hands seem to slide right off naturally. Might be reading too much into that, but it's a curious design."
Prowl and two pack Prime (from last year) have the same 'pop off' joint design. I was thinking of this yesterday and I bet it's extremely cost effective. They can mold just one piece this way and the joint is included in the molding. I'm not a huge fan of these joints being exposed but I really can't complain other wise. They work.

It also makes it rather easy to produce Uni. Sideswipe. All they have to do is switch the fists around.

I'm actually rather amazed at the versatility of this mold. as far as i can see. it's basically the same as Sideswipes mold with a few minor differences. quite good really. i do wish the paints on figures like this matched the color molded parts a bit better. it seems thay yellow is especially difficult these days. Animated BB has the same problem in that area.
i'll wait till a can go into a stare to buy these though. i hate not being able to look at a figure and see if the paints look decent.

This has been my favorite of the new classics line. I agree with the flaws and the different hue of yellow on top but this is also one of the bigger deluxe classics figures. I hope that there's a classics trailbreaker in store for us.
Let's see
Autobots Classic
Optimus

Bluestreak

Prowl
Jazz
Trailbreaker
Sideswipe
Sunstreaker
Ratchet
Ironhide
Hound
Mirage
Bumblebee
Cliffjumper
Huffer
Brawn
Gears
Windcharger
As far as the decepticons are concerned
We just need a classics
Soundwave
Rumble
Frenzy
Lazerbeak
Buzzsaw

Glad we're getting more of this cool line - the molds (overall) are some of the coolest ever. Hasbro has taken a few slick tricks learned from their Alt/BT lines & applied them to "Classics" (that 'reverse Autobot twins' gimmick is frakking GOLDen !)
Kinda hoping it does well enough that they can justify a re-release of the 1.0 figures, since many never seemed to make it here. (NOT holding my breath, though).

I think, depending on your point of view, that Wheeljack HAS come out already. He was released as part of the Energon line and also slightly recoloured for a re-release.
personally, methinks the following should be either re-released as-is or slightly recoloured for the classics line:
- Energon Wheeljack
- Energon Shockwave
- Cybertron Shortround as Seaspray
- Botcon Huffer as Henkei Huffer (with better paintjob)
- Botcon Huffer as "Pipes"
- All the seekers via Henkei
Any more?

The only problem with Energon Downshift is that he sucks.
I've been massively unimpressed with the quality of the paint apps on TFs recently... I've seen more smudges, overspray, and even fingerprints. It's really making TF purchasing into a crap shoot.

to LMH's slavish sunstreaker arm color angst... so much for updating... (remembers same angst over the ALT/BT)
And FWIW - We've heard PLENTY of QC horror stories from Takara as well...
If i recall nearly half of the MP-UMs were painted in such a way that their legs were glued to each other and the box....

Sorry, I just think that gray and yellow is a spectacularly shitty color combination.
But really, they went to all this trouble to color Prowl and
SilverBluestreak and Ironhide exactly exactly like G1, but this guy...
oh that's right, he's sharing parts with Sideswipe, and that saves Hasbro money.

Moving on, ... About the review that has sent this thread on railroad tracks up & down but maintained its steadyness about Universe Classics 2.0, I digress & want the Henkei! chromed and g1 painted versions more. BUT, unfortunately, i will end up with the Hasbro versions i realized (for now) b/c i already have 2 SETS of Classics versions 1.0 with 1 set all sealed in pckging. Back to Universe Classics Sunstreaker, i just noticed how OFF the two yellows are. WOW

that could make the figure look terrible depending on QC & painting it. It looks almost as if they used die cast/metal there where its a darker/not as bright yellow, (otherwards his chest) although i know they obviously didnt.
