Okay, My only gripe with this fig was that his paint SUCKED and his deco (even for Prowl) was rather plain. So I've taken it upon myself to make him worth keeping.



This is about a days worth of work so far with all the black paint redone in a gloss instead of the satin the it comes with. I've not been able to track down any propper decals to replace what he has so I've simply masked off the ones he currently has and painted around them. The pics don't show off the difference in finish but I'll take better ones later. The important thing here, I feel, is the silver thighs, arms and the paint on the missile launchers. These differences alone really make the fig stand out and not feel so plain. The doors definately need another coat of white but I don't have time for that tonight. The black and silver need time to cure so I'll probably acheive more progress on this in about a week.

Crits, ideas and comments welcome and thanks for looking.

I should also note that the shoulders are getting some black panel lines in the shoulder areas just above where I painted the silver. I will also be replacing his lightbar with one from Movie Barricade. The full red one isn't real fitting on a police car.

As for decals, have you thought about grabbing a set from http://reprolabels.com/Classics/prowl.asp ?

THanks. The problem wit hthat set is they don't provide a shot of what's on the sheet itself. Obviously there's a sticker for the front and rear bumpers but for the doors it looks like all they provide is the Shield logo...which kind of looks dumg IMO.

Not sure. I think it's both the shield and the police text, from the way the "police" is offset, and not taking over the entire door.

But, that's a good question, I'll email and see what kind of response I'll get.

Got a response from Reprolabels.

They didn't provide an image of the sticker sheet(though, I guess it makes sense, since it could be easily reproduced.) but the girl who replied did confirm that it was the shield and police text on the decal.

That's sweet and thanks a ton for checking into this for me! I will definately be ordering a set of those. Now I have to sand down my work and put another coat of black on....not really a big deal as the white paint that came factory applied has gotten tacky and started to lift off on my fingers

All the future bits of work I previously stated I wanted done are now actually done. With the exception of some reprolabels and possible sliver rims, He's done. Will post the final pics once he's completely dry and has labels. but for now:









As an added note, I got annoyed around Wednesday just thinking about this project. I love modding but not when it's something that's supposed to come from the factory.... So I emailed Hasbro my complaints and hopes that in the future they nab some better qc and not use paint that doesn't stick to plastic. Well, my complaining got me a gift certificate so at least I've gotten something for all of my work. That's rather nice.

I have a set of Reprolabels coming in as well for my Prowl... but you have definitely inspired me to do a bit more to him.

Nice! Got to admit, that straight light bar on Prowl looks good.

I wonder if I should write to Hasbro and complain about all the nail polish I've had to use on a few of the Animated figures to tighten the joints right out of package.

Yeah...I love that lightbar on him but I ended up with a little silver mess inside the middle of the lightbar thanks to the glue. I'll have to paint a coat of silver on the top to cover it up. Shouldn't be too hard with a bit of masking.

Also, I was a little bummed to discover the white paint was just a shade on the yellow side but overall I can't complain. At least it's not tacky anymore.

Dude, I suggest, if you really have a few complaints send them an email. Jin swears by it and honesty I can't see the harm in it other maybe a few wasted minutes.

I painted my prowl tonight and added a lightbar to him - here is a pic:





The main difference in mine is that I didn't paint the exhaust pipes, and the missle launchers are silver with chrome missles.

I can't wait for reprolabels to arrive!
