Not sure if this has been talked about yet, but Captain America's shield can be seen in Iron Man, and apparently he WAS supposed to make an appearance in Incredible Hulk.

Damn, I never noticed it.....I'll have to watch the movie again when it's on DVD.

Captain America is awesome!

Captain America sucks. I've always found Superheroes in stupid costumes with silly names bad, and any named after a country suck. Especially Uncle Sam...

I concur that Capt America is lame, but if compared to Captain Britain or some other nationalist/fascist superheroes/villains, I'd pick Capt America all the way over Britain.

Odd. I can stand both Cap and Captain Britain, but I prefer Captain Britain over Cap. Britain's story's scope is much wider, partly due to the reason of Great Britain's history being so much farther back than America.

And besides, even today, I find Captain America being too jingoistic for my tastes.

I just hate patriotism like that in a character.

Didn't know about the shield.

But in Incredible Hulk, they mention the Super Soldier Program and how Banner was working on it for the Army. Makes me think that the Avengers they're going for is somewhat based off of the Ultimates version of them (even though there the Super Soldier Program was being redeveloped by Banner for use by SHIELD).

I must say the new Marvel Production studios is doing very well keeping their movies in the same universe. This whole scene with Cap and Banner sounds interesting and I'd love to see it. Here's to hoping they put it in the DVD in deleted scenes, or better yet, have a Director's Cut with the scene put back in.

BTW, I like Cap. I've always thought that he's kinda like Batman if Batman had greater strength.

Captain America is a great character because he stands as a symbol for the ideals America was founded on. He's not partiotic for the sake of flag waving but is someone who fights for things like equality, justice and freedom which I think are things people from any country can get behind, and Cap is the first person to stand up to anyone who tries to violate those things including his own goverment at times which is essenially what the idea behind the whole Civil War thing was supposed to be.

Captain Britian who I also like as a character really has little to do with his countries politics or goverment. He is a character entrenched in the mythology of his country with things like Merlin and Excalibur.

I think 616-Captain America is lame, but I very much like Ultimate Captain America.
