At any rate, this has been a sore point for many years and will continue to be a thorn. Personally, I think this is a good ruling. While some will blow it out of proportion and liken it to the heralding of the apocalypse, and others will say this is just a baby step to the 'big fix', I say that this is a fair transaction. Individual cities shouldn't have say on what is constitutional nationwide. Therefore, the city of Washington DC stepped over it's bounds by saying they could ban guns entirely.

I think it'll be interesting to see how the 9th circuit here in California will view the decision. Should guns be universally available? NO WAY! Should there be restrictions on types of guns sold, how they can be transported and where they can be brandished? OF COURSE! I think it's completely legit for a homeowner to keep a small pistol or even an unmodified shotgun for defense. However, machine guns? Civilians have no need for that type of TOOL (note I didn't say weapon, anything can be a weapon if used wrong).
