StoryFrom the ruling:
QUOTE
1. The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.
(a) The Amendment€™s prefatory clause announces a purpose, but does not limit or expand the scope of the second part, the operative clause. The operative clause€™s text and history demonstrate that it connotes an individual right to keep and bear arms.
(b) The prefatory clause comports with the Court€™s interpretation of the operative clause. The €œmilitia€ comprised all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense. The Antifederalists feared that the Federal Government would disarm the people in order to disable this citizens€™ militia, enabling a politicized standing army or a select militia to rule. The response was to deny Congress power to abridge the ancient right of individuals to keep and bear arms, so that the ideal of a citizens€™ militia would be preserved.

Good.
Can't say I'm too happy that the Bush Administration wasn't entirely happy with the results.... but then again, who cares what Bush and his crew thinks about anything anymore.
This is such a good thing. I hope someday they'll trash some of the other BS gun control laws and regulations.

I prefer a more specific stereotyping title... I'm a semi-automatic-weapons cashew... or Brazil Nut... those are tasty as well... but only if you've wipes them clean of the Hoppes No. 9 solvent. That stuff leaves a funny after taste.

Let the battle of semantics commence!
Let's all talk about what the phrase "the people," and "the People" mean.

Regulating firearms for "the safety of the children" is a crock. There's this little thing called parenting which should trump the concept of banning a constitutional right. Nobody says anything about cutting into free speach when you have kids running around cursing like a drunken sailor on shore leave. Or the various levels of misinformation, blatant lies, and slander spewed by the media daily. Or people like "Forsaken the Troops" talking about how their glad soldiers are getting mangled and killed regularly.
Hypocrisy runs strong in everyday society by peopl who selectively support and condemn constitutional rights to suit their own personal beliefs. Gotta love it.

Uh, wat.
The ruling was more for the right wing than the left(if you wish to use such insane labels...).

every news show I've seen talking about this (outside of fox) completely leaves off the entire second clause of the second ammendment.
ya know, the part about the people.
