Well There is finally a comic book store in my city after 4 years. I picked up Kick Ass and I really enjoyed it. I highly recommend this one.

i think the premise for this is just outstanding. like part of his inner monologue in issue 1 says "why hasnt anyone else thought of this before?" and im betting while this is highly entertaining to us, its also very relatable to todays youngns which probably accounts for its success. although i will say i dont really care for the new character in issue 3, but its not as if im not willing to see where its going.
true story: i saw issue 1 solicitated in preveiws, recognized miller and romita obviously, so i asked my lcs to put me down for it. the wednesday it was released i picked it up and read it. immediatly after i was done i was in love with it. realizing i have alot of friends who would like it i figured id grab a few more copies so they could check it out. so the very next day i stopped in my lcs to see if he had more and he was sold out. and after stopping at 5 other stores (theres alot of comic stores here) everyone was sold out. and one of the owners said to me "..... yeah.. mark miller and jrjr.. we should have known better." i kind of chuckled.

LCS told me that they are going to make this into a movie. Makes sense. Already waiting for issue 4.

Whats the Premise?

the premise is your (our) average universe. no super heroes or anything. the main character (Dave Lizewski) is a typical highschool nerd who reads to many comics. and he begins to wonder why there are no super heros. obviously not supermen or anything, but the regular vigilante types like punisher or batman. so he decides to give it a try. and i would say the dialogue is somewhat kevin smith'esq. its pretty funny. heres the wiki anyways, but theres spoilers.

So far the series has kicked ass! Eh, eh? No but seriously the team behind this is amazing

But when you think about it the ironicalness of the hero is pretty funny.

Can't wait for Millar's Wolverine! Anything that involves both of them is gonna be bad ass!

I liked the first two, but I'm not sure I like the sword girl and her father. I'm going to reread the whole run soon and if I don't change my mind I'm dropping this one.

i know what you mean. i was surprised how quickly it went from "omfg this is awsome!" to "awww.... really?". seriously... 4 issues and now it doesnt seem to be enough about kickass himself. when he gave us the 9 year old sword girl and the big chainsaw guy it suddenly went back to "unrealistic comic world", which is what the series was not supposed to be about. or at least that was the impression i got from the first couple issues.
ill stick with it for now though. i want to see more of dave develope.
