Venom_Macbeth
Well, whilst on vacation this past week, I had the opportunity to purchase these transformers. (and now I'm glad I chose them over incinerator.) I really wanted a Big Daddy, but I stopped at like 5 walmarts, but to no avail. Anyway, I guess this really isn't any kind of review...moreso just me raving at how much I like these lil guys. I shall begin with...

Autobot Camshaft

I bought this guy at walmart a few days ago. Upon removing him from his packaging, the floppiness of the cannon cover on the back became readily apparent. This didn't bother me, however, as it only really flopped about if the car was placed upside down--a rather odd and unrealistic position for a car.

Transforming this guy is a lot of fun. It's very simple, but clever. I actually like that his hands aren't in permanent fist position...it seems more realistic to me...less action-figure-like. There are, however, some flaws:
1. The floppy car piece that covers the cannon in vehicle mode.
It's a PAIN IN THE ASS to get it to stay in any particular position so it doesn't dangle like some rediculous loin cloth. However, once you get it to stay, it's not so bad.
2. The lack of head articulation.
His head is on some type of joint, I know it...it's just stuck down so far into the body that it can't turn! Again, a minor annoyance...or at least, for me.

The robot mode has a very classic feel to it, hearkening (sp) back to the days when most of the autobots had the hoods of cars for chests. I miss those days, and Camshaft is a pleasant reminder of them. If you already hate the camera-head Movie Transformer designs, you'll probably hate this guy, too. However, if you are a fan of said designs, and you appreciate the classic car-chest autobots, then I highly reccoment him. A worthy investment. thumbsup1.gif

Overcast

Okay, I imagine that most of you probably hate the Overcast/Dreadwing mold, but...I must confess, he's one of my favorites. Ducking.gif

I'll start with his vehicle mode:
Not exactly kibble-rific, but the oddly conspicuous bomb/fuel tank thing underneath it converts into the legs...seems like a compromise to me, especially considering how small the legs are because of it. Other than that, the jet mode is quite nice. The black & neon colorscheme is very pleasing..much more pleasing than the grey camo of his counterpart, Dreadwing.

The transfomation is just as odd as the robot mode...with the nose of the plane becoming the airplane head, and the fuel tank becoming the legs...still, it's a fun little transformation, with just enough difficulty to keep in interesting and not frustrating.

Once he is converted to robot mode...well, I'm not quite sure what to say. He's quite disproportionate, with very short legs, a very large upper body, and very long gorilla arms...with no hands. However...his weird bubble eye and odd, ungainly appearance are...well, I might as well say it. This is one cute little bugger. In an odd, catloaf sort of way... kittyloaf.gif He almost reminds me off Wall-E. (sp)

so what do you guys think of em? I'm probably the only one in the universe that likes them...

The mold used for Camshaft I like but I cannot stand the color scheme in robot mode on this particular version. Marrooooooon! WTF were they thinking? I was a little dissapointed to find out he had no thigh rotation but his feet and waist make up for it. Monkey arms FTW! I modded him so his head can be pulled forward. the head is on a ball joint adn that balljoint is attached to something that allows it to rotate forward and back. unfortunately the molded the chest piece with a small hole instead of a slit. Now his head comes forward a bit and has rotation. I plan on giving him a little flat black in robot mode to pull out all the detail the carved into him but that will have to wait until I get him home from work.

Dreadwings paint job pissed me off. It's just ugly and being that he himself is ugly it made him that much more unattractive. Overcast does look better (everything looks better in black) but I cannot make myself purchase him. his lack of posability and wonky aesthitics just weird me out too much. I will probably end up getting him out of boredome but it won't be anytime soon.

I really like the Swindle mold.
The transformation is a lot of fun.

BTW - I think the Loin-cloth look is intentional.
Detective Barricade
Camshaft I may have to get. Saw him before, but I think I bought either Incinerator or Payload that day. When I went back the other day, he was gone (as was all of the Transformers Deluxe figures)... rumblecry.gif

BTW - Camshaft looks great with a either the Wreckage Head (no repainting needed) or a repainted BB/CJ head.

I did a bunch of head swaps a little while back and anyway Wreckage is a useless figure IMO, but at least you can salvage his head, hands and swordies...
Detective Barricade
I like the thought behind Wreckage's 'Switch blades'! Is it just me, or do all of the "Drone molds" for Transformers: The Game have a huge-over-the-top gimmick of one sort or another? Fro example, Dropkick/Salvage has his pliers of DOOM, Payload has his claw belly, and this mold has a cannon belly.
Venom_Macbeth
what? cannon dork what??? XD
Amethyst Ed
I didnt care for the colors on both of these molds. But I did buy Swindel...

Do the neck notch mod. It helps the neck ball joint move out on the chest forward. And I head swapped with a spare Univese Hightower... MUCH better!

Swindel/ Camshaft is a decent little car bot. I think an Autobot warrior works better, though...

Count me in on the rare minority who likes that figure. Yeah, he's weird looking and bizzarely proportioned, but i sort of consider him the movie-verse version of the Armada Thrust fig. Makes a good fodder seeker.
Venom_Macbeth
yeah. besides, he's about as oddly proportioned as starscream is in the movie.

I like the Overcast/Dreadwing mold as well. It IS odd, no debate there, but it weirdly works. Besides, I changed Overcast's yellow apps into purple, and he makes a great & quick SkyWarp/

Just got Camshaft...Once you do the head neck mod:

http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers...e-neck-mod.html

then you got a really nice bot. Not feeling the car mode on this one but I got it mostly for the bot

I own both of them sadly my camshaft's side window broke off and now I have to buy a new one I would really prefer if they the made the green swindle one. bot.png
