according to certain sources, jetfire may indeed be a con, am i the only one who finds this incredibly wrong?
i've always known jetfire as a autobot not a decepticon so i'm partically upset about the fact that he may be a villain.

Jetfire starts out as a Decepticon, to allow for discussion about the motives within the ranks of the Decepticons. Later on, he establishes a relationship with either one of the Autobots, or Sam, and ultimately, turns coat and joins the Autobots instead.

Sky fire started as a Decepticon in G1 also (In the cartoon anyway.I don't know about the comics). So actually it's fitting

It's the movieverse. Most characters on the Con side will be newly made up characters who are just assigned older names. So some of those names might have once belonged to Autobots. No biggie.

Not to mention that fact that we know some characters' names ended up being different in the film than they were during production, and we have every reason to believe that'll be the case this time, too.

Jetfire was Decepticon in BOTH the comic and show. I read that sam goes to "see" Jetfire so this could be something that veers off that theory. If he is a con then i bet he will change back as Jetfire is a Autobot in the , comic, G1, A/E/C so doubtfull

Indeed; in Marvel, he starts out as a very-nearly-mindless construction of Shockwave's, but is quickly taken control of by a Deus Ex Machina power of Buster Witwicky's, and then introduced to the Autobots (interesting bit of culture in that segment, too, with something very... binding-your-loyalty, blood-of-our-brothers-is-now-in-your-veins, except it was oil, not blood)-- and in the G1 cartoon, he originally sides with the 'Cons because his old colleague (friend?) Starscream wants him to, but switches partway through his first episode when he realizes that the Decepticons are conquerers, and he (as a relativly peaceful scientist) has no place with them.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he started with, but betrayed, the Decepticons in the next movie~ and more Jetfire is always fine by me. <3 Better him than another sub par hacker subplot, y/y?
