In an effort to close up rifts with the Democratic Party, the Barrack Obama campaign team announced today that Hillary Clinton, once Obama's rival for the Democratic nomination, will campaign alongside Obama starting on June 27th. There has been some frustration lately with Obama's campaign which came to a head yesterday, when Barrack reversed an earlier decision to accept $85 million in public financing for his campaign.

It's about bloody time.
This should have been announced a day after Obama won the nomination, at the latest.

I'm still not clear why him refusing Tax money in favor of his own earned donations is such a controversy.
Shouldn't he be applauded for that?

oh yeah and - go Lady Clinton. I think with both Clinton and Obama's supporters focused on a single canidate - Obama is unbeatable come November.

Because there aren't many other controversies to sensationalize now that "Muslim" is old.

Yes, provided the donations aren't all from some big corporations trying to install their candidate into the White House...which is why the tax money election accounts got set up in the first place, I believe...but I'm sure Obama can account for where the money came from, so that's not an issue.

Because reform-minded people have been pushing for public financing, so that any candidate seeking election would be able to compete equally, without being hamstrung by a lack of corporate / special interest / lobbyist cash which his/her opponent may have at his/her disposal.

However, there have been ways around public financing restrictions ever since the system was implemented, the most recent example being the "527" groups created by the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill.

Obama is going back on a pledge he made to compete with public funds, if his opponent were to do the same (which McCain has done). But there is an argument being made by the Obama people that he is not violating the spirit of campaign finance reform, his donations have largely come from individual contributors and not the "big money" people.

There's a lot to like about a leader that keeps his word...but I think there's a lot more to like in a leader who realizes when the reality of a situation leads logically and without negative consequence to a changed mind.

Hey, I'm just answering the question objectively... subjectively I have zero issue with it because

a) public support for Obama kind of is "public financing" anyway

b) I want him to cruuuuuuuuuush McCain

Well, the only thing I want to read/hear next is that Clinton is the Vice President. Say all that you want but out of any of the possible candidates for this position Clinton would be the best at insuring a win in November.

If someone else is chosen for this job then all hope is lost... McCain will be our next president

The magic of Oboma is just not enough against McCain.

What are you basing that on? I don't think there's a single poll out right now that puts McCain ahead of Obama come November.

Its no wonder Clinton is now supporting Obama since he's helping her with her debt.

Next thing you know, they'll be on stage together, patting each other on the back, holding hands, hugging. Gazing longingly into one another's eyes. Their faces press closer, lips aquiver, all of a sudden...

OMG, PULL YOUR PANTS UP!

At least that's they way I see it going down.

Hilary is one of the most hated people in politics today. I think her being the vice president would destroy obama's chance at being elected rather than helping it.

Hillary is like the conservative anti-Christ. And it's not like having her on the ticket will convince any of the HOOSANE people that Obama isn't a secret muslim.

I went ahead and fixed that for you.

It's really amazing how much people hate her down here in the southern US. I mean, she's earned it, but still...
