The story about a young kid named Simon found a key shaped like a drill, then on progress, also found a head-shaped robot (Headmaster? laughlol.gif). Unknowingly that these buried relics are long lost Spiral Warrior ganmen, then, that kid with his friends start their journey to liberate other neighboring villages from Beastmen occupations, and in extend, the more they liberate, the bigger their forces become, eventually they came into massive showdown against the main antagonist, and liberate the human races from the annexation of the Beastmen. The battles are intense. The story is solid and original, not based from comic/manga/asdf. And the Ganmen (robots, equivalent to Gundam, TF, etc) are also cool. Some of them could even transforms.

And seriously, like what my friend told to me, if you like TF, you would probably like this show, too. icon_wink.gif

This had to have been one of the greatest anime series...I haven't watched a series that just drove emotions like this one did...plus one of the greatest mech fights...the LARGEST mech fights ever...

plus....it is always fun...to do "that"...
Genesis Climber Mospeada
I've seen the Revoltech toy of a mech from that, looks pretty sweet, haven't seen the show yet though. Sounds cool.

Just looked something up on it, apparently US Sci Fi channel will be showing it from July through October!!

I've pre-ordered mine for US$20. icon_wink.gif

This show, IMO, is the best anime show of the year!
Kamina is full of awesomeness, so is adult Simon.

And you'll know why the show is called Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann when you've reached the last episode.
Freakin epic!!!!!

I've watched some episodes on youtube now, this show has great characters. And yeah, I really want that Revoltech now, he's pretty sweet.

I can't wait to see how they dub that Leeron guy's voice.
Big Grim
one thing that's amusing about the series is that Viral is voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama, who does the voice of Adult Link in the Zelda games. So his battle cries and gasps should sound familiar to anyone who's played Ocarina of Time.
Starscreamer
just a bump because anyone who is a fan of a great moving series needs to see this show

I'm surprised more people haven't actually said something about this series. It's just so awesome. I got hooked on the first episode.

Seriously If I wasn't cracking up I was on the edge of my seat.

Best special move yet:

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM!! KIIICK!!!"

and I laughed my arse off with the first 'combination' "Now we have two heads on our robot too!"
Big Grim
i heard something about a sequel that takes place seven years after the end of the series. Anyone else hear anything about this?
Blitz
I heard rumours about 2 movies but I was thinking it was just going to be be OVA's made up of the first and then 2nd half
Darth Caine
Yeah, just compilation of the episodes. Meh. sweatbead.gif
Father Time
I tried to watch it. I managed to follow it all the way through to the death of Kamina, mostly by sheer determination, because I didn't thought it was all that great. However, when they killed off Kamina, the only character I found worth any attention, I decided to call it quits.
Blitz
see i thoght it was lame for a bit after but it really picks up toward the end

Seriously? You gotta follow Simon's character development, FT. icon_wink.gif

no, whatever it is be it series or movie, it takes place 7 years after the end of the series. Read about it in Anime Insider #59. From the headlines, can't find the full article.

Smashing enemy mecha with a souped-up machine that wears stylish shades is all good fun, but what happens after you win? Find out on p. 28, as Gurren Lagann’s Simon and company jump seven years into the future.

Simon, Kamina, Yoko and friends gave their all to defeat the Beast-Men in Gurren Lagann—and they succeeded. But what happens when success could mean triggering a greater threat?

That sounds exactly like a summary of the end of series where it jumps seven years in the future after defeating the Helix King.

2nd'D that's spot on the 2nd half of the series

I will say thing I hope they don't chop out any of Viral's bits he was a bit of a surprise in the 2nd half and IMO a damb cool character I even got a little emo when they shown us his "dream world" when he had a wife and kid and as we all know beast men can only reproduce via cloning
Darth Caine
See? My point stands still. Yeah, just compilation of the (2nd season) episodes. Meh.
