This is weird, but I've noticed it on several occasions now.

When a poll thread has NEW posts, I see the "no new posts" icon. When a poll thread has NO new posts, I seen the "new posts" icon.

Polls work differently -- the icon also displays new votes in the poll, even if there's no new post in the thread.

Yeah, I know that.

The thing is, if there is (for example) a poll thread with a new post in the middle of a bunch of other threads with new posts, ALL the other threads will display the "new post" icon, but the poll thread will be showing the "no new posts" icon.

Conversely, if I'm in a forum and hit the "Mark All Forums Read" button and go back into that forum, the poll icon will still be showing the "new post" icon even though there are no new posts and the poll numbers have not changed.

What I'm trying to say is that that isn't a "new posts" icon; it's a "new votes" icon. But poll threads are still bumped when there's a new post. Not when there's a new vote, though.

Ok, don't close this thread yet, I'm going to try and show you an example.

Nevermind, I think I get it now.

If there are no new VOTES, the icon remains "pale." If there is a new VOTE then the thread shows the "new post" icon, but the thread is not bumped.

HOWEVER, if there is a new POST (but not a new VOTE), the thread is bumped but the icon is not changed.

Is that how it works?
