Marsden Morphs Into Transformers 2

MTV.com reported that British actor Matthew Marsden has joined the cast of Transformers 2.

Marsden (Resident Evil: Extinction) will play Graham, a member of the British Special Forces. The sequel's plot is being kept a secret, but the site reported that the film will deal more with a global battle and will shoot around the world.

Graham teams with the U.S. military characters played by returning stars Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson as they battle the evil Decepticons.

The returning cast also includes Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox; MTV.com earlier reported that Rainn Wilson (NBC's The Office) was also joining the cast as a professor.

Returning director Michael Bay told the audience at the June 1 MTV Movie Awards that Transformers 2 would begin shooting very soon. It slated to open June 26, 2009.

Hmm... I hope this means that the Transformers' war will expand beyond the United States and show it actually impacting the world. Yeah okay, we had Afghanistan in the first movie, but the United States (i.e.: Sector Seven) was still the primary target in that attack. It'd be cool to see the Decepticons as a global threat to all of humanity rather than just a single nation - lest they do what they nearly did in G1 where the United Nations nearly launched tactical nuclear missiles at the United States to prevent the Decepticon Empire from spreading. icon_wink.gif

Not if Michael Bay is directing, you won't.

Actually, Transformers is only half American. It's only fair if more stomping were to occur in Japan. tounge1.gif

C'mon, who would not like to see Transformers thrashing it out in downtown Tokyo?! icon_wink.gif

When the Transformers were fighting in Mission City, there's a building in the background with a sign that says "Takara Sushi," I think it'd be neat if they had a scene in a Japanese city where there would be a sign on a building - in Japanese, that said "Hasbro"-something. The Simpsons movie had a Japanese sign that said "Godzilla Motors."

Maybe ハズブロ・バーガー ("Hasbro Burgers"). biggrintf.gif

P.S.: My wife said that she read somewhere that there's also casting being done in China - perhaps they are planning increasing the TF threat as being more global. *shrug*

Although if he approaches the Royal Army they'd probably sell him a Tank regiment.

With the obvious exceptions of central characters* I think human soldiers should mostly be there to be stepped on and run away. The inclusion of more named human characters then the necessary few does not heighten my excitement about this sequel.

*(doubters of my sincerity can try to look up my thread on the importance of humans in the tfs aptly titled "Transformers and Humans)

Asthaloth: When I cosplayed as Ratchet, I had people come up to me and asked me if I was barracking for England. Smart arses. tounge1.gif

P.S.: If I inverted those colours, I'd be Swiss! tounge1.gif
