This has the makings of a B-rated filler. C'mon torrent! (or YouTube)
Agent Zero
I might just consider skipping this one. Could be fun though. Will have to wait and see.

THAAAT FAST?!
Starscream the great
What already!? I've been meaning to see this one heard of a wonderful surprise!
Skoponok's Skopions
Wow, I was going a topic a little while after the episode aired here in Canada.
Lintlizard
That was a decent episode, with the exception of Professor friggin' Princess who needs to die in a grease fire.

Also, I KNEW Swindle's voice sounded familiar; it's this guy.

All in all, a decent episode. Not the greatest one yet, but anything with Angry Archer can't be all bad tounge1.gif
Agent Zero
I was pleasantly surprised. Swindle alone made it worth watching.
Slo-Mo and her 1920's gangster impression got annoying after a while though.

Weird, I had heard nothing about this one at all up until today, whereas I knew about A Fistful of Energon and Rise of the Constructicons weeks ago.

But now that it's up:

Swindle: g1-OptimusPrimeAniLevelup.gif

Everything else about the episode sarcasticpelicanlb2.gif
Father Time
Well, I liked the fact that there was finally some more screentime for the human foes. They're still no threat to the Transformers, but that's good too.

And Swindle was indeed g1-OptimusPrimeAniLevelup.gif

And did anyone besides me notice the mention of the Vok, the alien species responsible for many of the things that went on during the Beast Wars? clap.gif for that absolutely random coming out of nowhere comment from Swindle.

Umm... overall a pretty "meh" episode.

Good points:
+ Yes, the Vok Easter Egg was nice - a nice nod to G2 and BW. Anyone else notice the Tetris reference? And I can't believe that Angry Archer actually said "Exeunt." Lawl.
+ Swindle was a neat character, a like how they made him a complete gunrunner instead of being a fully committed Decepticon warrior
+ Subtle adult humour between Nanosec and Slo-Mo: "I like a man who takes it fast." / "And I like a girl who takes it slow."
+ Transformation animation was good - Bumblebee's transformation was really toy-accurate. Good to see actual parts shifting instead of the blurred epileptic twirls.
+ As much as I hate the human villains, seeing them unite with Bumblebee against Swindle was cool - for a moment it reminded me of the Neo Knights from G1.

Neutral point...
+ Slo-Mo's try-hard 1930s mobster/reporter/P.I. speech was annoying, but it did make her gel in with the rest of the SUV who all have incredibly stupid gimmicks and mannerisms anyway. *sigh* I do like how they made fun of Professor Princess' incomprehensible speaking though. icon_wink.gif
Prof. Princess: "Becoz da enemyofmyenemy iz my fren!"
Nanosec: "What?"

Bad points...
+ Return of lame-arse human villains. I can see that the writers are trying to make them cool... but they're still so incredibly lame. Especially Professor Princess.
+ I really didn't like how Bumblebee decided that he had to prove himself and ignored the rest of the team as it undid the critical character development for him established in "Megatron Rising." There's no point in establishing character developmental resolutions if you're going to completely ignore them later - it was a like a massive leap backwards for Bumblebee's character. And so soon after what happened with Prowl in the last episode just leaves a bad aftertaste.
+ They failed to make a plot resolution with Slo-Mo's AllSpark fragment. I assume that the Autobots seized it... but we didn't see or hear about it.
+ Why did the Autobots allow Fanzone to take Swindle? Didn't Ultra Magnus tell Optimus Prime to locate the remaining AllSpark fragments and capture the remaining Decepticons?! He even gave him a supply of stasis-cuffs to do the job! This makes no sense... it was just as annoying when we saw Prime let the Constructicons walk away too. It nearly justifies Sentinel Prime's criticisms of Optimus' leadership... (-_-)

Remember these?!

Not a bad episode. I'd forgotten Swindle was due to make an appearance. It wasn't his 'flat head' that bugged me, it was the fact the the eyes and mouth were way too big. It looked weird.

And yeah, I got the Vok reference--pretty cool little touch.

Yeah, kind of hard to get invested with a cartoon if the writers will just change things whenever it suits their purporses. What makes it worse is that they're doing it not for the sake of telling a good story but for the sake of shoe-horning in a ham-fisted moral lesson.

Yep. Was still annoying though.

Swindle was always one of those characters that, while I wouldn't call a favourite, I enjoyed. This episode just might have pushed him over the edge into my "favourites" category. I may even get the Animated toy to replace my Cybertron version. Need to see some pics though.

And his head was fine, as far as Animated.png character models go (IMO). He wasn't stylized any more or less then the rest of them.
Would have liked a " con.png shin-guard" homage though biggrintf.gif

Swindle was very well done, and it's so cool that it was Fred Willard. His voice really fit the character. (heh... "Wha happen?!" Good one. icon_wink.gif )

I do think it didn't fit that they just let him get taking by the human authorities, though.

As Father Time said, that wouldn't work because the effect of Slo-Mo's AllSpark device is only temporary. Swindle would be fully operational again long before they could impound him and go through all the legal paperwork to have him stripped.

I'd say you're in a minority there, my friend. tounge1.gif

Professor Princess and other human supervillains (including the Headmaster) are turning out to be Animated's equivalent to G1's Wheelie and Daniel! Annoying and making far too many prominent appearances - although in Animated.png Season 2 they've become a lot less prominent than Season 1, which is a good thing. The lameness of Wheelie and Daniel alone wasn't what hurt the post-movie seasons of G1, it was the fact that they were so damn prominent! Wheelie got more air time than freakin' Sky Lynx... (-_-)

I don't mind if they kept these characters as one-scene wonders, but I hope we don't see them dominate any more episodes. (-_-) Although having a Decepticon as the main mastermind did help save this episode from complete suckage.
Smooth Jazz
Swindle is made of g1-OptimusPrimeAniLevelup.gif for sure. His new characterization is awesome and very befitting of the name. I like how there are more faction-neutral characters (yes, Swindle is technically a Decepticon but I'm sure he'd sell anything to anyone for the right price). I'm also sure we'll see him again.

I really thought this episode was going to be a throwaway but I ended up really liking it. But then again, I didn't expect it to have a Transformer villain.

Speaking of which, does anyone think that as awesome as Swindle is, Fred Willard's voice doesn't fit the character perfectly? He's a great actor and does a wonderful job but his voice just doesn't say "treacherous, conniving arms dealer" to me.
Goktimus Prime
I have no idea who Fred Willard is - I followed the IMDB link and I still have no idea - but I thought his voice was fine for Swindle. smiletf.gif
Taaron
Just finished watching the episode. I thought the "bolo" on Swindle was a bit odd. (When I heard that, I thought it'd be like an actual bolo and move about. Not a bolo-like decoration.) Everyone else has pretty summed up my feelings on the SUV group, and Swindle.

As for the Slo-Mo gizmo, affecting Swindle; I think the reasons it's less of a temporary thing: A.)it was attached to his hand when he was hit by the reflected attack. (I just re-watched the scene. It doesn't look like it flies off when he transforms back to his alternate mode.) and/or B.) The delay while waiting for Bumblebee to show up, kind of also feels like he might of been "charging" it for a stronger attack. Even if it's still temporary, I wouldn't be surprised if it wore off either while, or just as the police finish stripping him down.

Aoi
Goktimus Prime
Even if it's not temporary, I still don't know why the Autobots didn't seize him à la Ultra Magnus' orders. (-_-) Sadly moments like this (and allowing the Constructicons to walk away) kinda justifies Sentinel Prime's view toward Optimus Prime and his crew as being ill-suited combatants.

"Ha ha! Amateurs!"

...of course, Sentinel did allow himself to get decapitated by a human. tounge1.gif d:

I laughed out loud when Sari reprogram the receptionist bot's welcoming phrase.

And Swindle is awesomeji1.gif awesomeji1.gif

But still, lacks of action from Prime. Season 1 :: Bulkhead & Friends. Season 2 :: Bumblebee & Friends?

Hopefully Swindle will return despite Fanzone's decision to "put him on police auction".

It's like the 50 years they spent in underwater stasis has caused the cybertronian equivalent of brain damage, causing them to forget things like Magnus' orders and those moral lessons they have to keep relearning. This might even explain why Prowl is apparently bi-polar now.

Well some of them do have reasons for being so "forgetful". Bumblebee probably has the cybertronian equivalent of ADHD, Bulkhead is a big dumb guy so it's natural that he's a slow learner, Prowl strikes me as a former addict who turned to zen as a means of curing himself, and Ratchet's senile. So far, Prime hasn't had any major regressions. The last time he regressed was in the finale of Season one and that was due to the decepticons attacking in full force. If the same thing happens in the finale of Season Two then I guess we can chalk it up to Prime having a tendacy to crack under preasure, which would also explain why he flunked out of the academy.

and an awesome reference it was.

People, this is a kids cartoon, the standard for this today seems to mean, kids must learn from it instead of having fun.

seeing how animated seems to never take it's eye of entertaining it's target audience, I think we can overlook that the characters can tend to regress a little bit.

At least it's not completely wallowing in the dank arse hair of children are idiots like other shows like Thomas and friends ATM.
