"There is only one place on this planet where female Transformer fans out number the male fans and it could only happen in Tokyo Japan. Sunday May 25, was the return of Trans Funket, a bi-annual fan organized event where one can find plenty of Transformer "doujinshi" for sale..."

Some things of note:

1/ "Doujinshi" is a form of fan-made "manga" or comic. Usually a Japanese form of fan-fic, but just like the western equivalents, "pulp" editions appear, with sexual or romantic story-lines, often with homesexual overtones (although these are a minority).

2/ Some of the comics contained illustrated child-pornography, such as Sari (Transformers animated) being abused. This has been reported to the organisers or will be soon.

3/ There were no actual toys for sale, due to legal restrictions. However, custom "garage kits", fan comics, fan art, etc were for sale.

4/ This year there was a diorama room next to the main comics room.

5/ The pilot for Transformers Animated, presumably downloaded from the internet, plus other Japanese Tv shows, were shown on a large screen on the stage. Almost everyone would then sit down on the floor to watch these repeats, making moving to certain tables near the screen impossible.

6/ There was a competition for various custom TFs, costumes, etc with winners winning custom artwork, TF toys etc as prizes.

7/ The next even will be sometime in October, 2008.

8/ Due to the somewhat adult and possibly controversial nature of the imagery there, the even is NOT suitable for those under 18 or easily offended by sexual imagery, especially imagery involving children.

9/ This is NOT the Japanese "BOTCON" and is not officially recognised or endorsed by Takara or Hasbro.

Here's how I imagine that report'll go. Ring ring ring, "Captain Fanzone, this is Porter C. Pow(click)." "Sorry, the line you have tried calling has been disconnected. Please hang up and try your call again." Ring ring ring. "Capt-(click)." "Sorry, the line you have..."

Anyhow, reminds me I still need to go through FatGuy's photos from the event. He posted up a compressed file of a whole slew of photos that he didn't put up on his website.
