Hello TFormers customizers!

We really appreciate you sharing your customs with our community. It's always great to see what ideas the fandom can come up with. So TFormers has launched the Transformers Garage to better promote your customs and kitbashes!

Your hard work will be appreciated by more fellow members and fans than ever! When you submit your customs gallery, it will featured on the FRONT PAGE of our Transformers Garage section the day it is posted! How cool is that?

Posting your bash is simple as 1-2-3!

Step 1: Go to the Customs Image Gallery page to create a new image album for each of your Transformers custom figures - Click here to Submit Now! - NOTE: Please create a separate gallery album for each custom figure you want showcased and counted on the Garage home page.

Step 2: Fill out the gallery form to name your custom album, assign it to the relative category and add a short description of the custom figure and images you will be adding .

Step 3: Finally, choose the images you want to post in the Album. Upload as many as 20 at a time using the forum, OR upload a whole batch of images in a single .zip file.

That's all there is to it! A little while after your images are uploaded. A post will be auto-generated in this forum for easy access, and so your peers can compliment you on your hard work and artistry.

Note: this is the only method by which your kitbashes will be posted in this forum; starting new threads in here won't work!

If anyone has any questions about our submission process, please PM our friendly neighborhood Smith, who will guide you through your first one.

Thanks!!

Great Idea! It might, in time, be called the "Jin Kitbash Memorial Page", in honour of our localkitbashing deity, Jin?

Although I think it's a great idea that TFans gives (us) kitbashers the opportunity to display our projects like this thumbsup1.gif thumbsup1.gif , I do think that some things need to be different.

First, I think posting one of the pics in the topic might be a nice idea. That way you get some idea of how it looks and if you want to click the link to see more pics.

Second, the pics should be visible without the need to log in, so even unregistrated visitors can see these pics. That way, if a visitor is impressed he/she/it can decide to register and post a reply. Also, it means that we can post the link to the TFans gallery if we want to show our projects on another forum, which means extra promotion and visitors for TFans.

In the current set up, I'd rather use photobucket because then everyone can see it and at the same time you have a link for use on other forums.

(Of course, I'd still have to do something again to make use of all this rumblecry.gif )

Why, is he dead? According to his site he's still alive and making stuff. *IF* this is going to be named in honor of someone, then TFMaster seems like a better choice.

But personally, Garage seems like a perfect name to me.

Thanks for the feedback! Really sorry about that. The gallery images should be visible to ALL people members or not. I have updated the galleries so everyone can access them now.

LOL! Oh come on, you'll give me a big head. I'm just now getting the hang of the Album thing too. How do you make your pictures bigger tho? I do 'strips' which are tall, the system keeps shrinking them tho.

Also I get "You must select a different category" when I choose Customs and Kitbashes. I had to make my folder in the Artwork section, bleh

Another suggestion: Please could we still post normally at the kitbash forum please?I want to sometimes post links to other places where there are custom TFs but now I cant. Also, will you folks be bringing back the "stickies" about "Jin's Kitbashing Guide", "Japanese Custom Sites", etc?
Lord Madhammer
Please to see "The Workbench" for stickied how-to topics.

I have a question. Is the thread going to be posted in our name or in a mods name?

It will be posted, rather like a news report, in Hot Rod's name, I think. However, where possible, Hotrod has included the names of the original kitbasher in the title and in the post.

I'd say the name thing is an issue..i've seen it a couple times already where peoople who maybe aren't in the know, see the name HotRod, and think it's his work..I know I usually look up people work by their posted name, or, I know if I see someone posted something, I know if I like their work and will go look..When it's just Hot Rod everywhere..

Another bit, and sure, it's nit picking and all..But this site..there certainly is a lot of clicking. Click here to go there, get there, and now you have to click here to go to more of where you originally were etc..You click on a thread in the forum, it takes you to a page that says click here to read the full story..Why isn't the full story just there..Then, when you do click on the link to go to the full story, it's usually yet another bit saying click on this link to go look at that..By the time you're done, you have like 4-5 pages open. Now we're doing it with the kitbashing stuff too. Click thread, but wait, no, go here to see it etc..Can't it be compressed some how?

Thanks for the feedback. I will do my best to explain things...

A little history. All this stems from when we began to manually feature peoples customs on the TFormers news site. We got so many complaints from other customizers that they were not getting featured. We started working on something that would allow everyone to be featured just by posting their stuff in the gallery.

We want this to work great for everyone. Maybe we look like pros or something? icon_wink.gif The reality is we are just as new at building stuff like this for members to use, as you are to using them. We're just a month into this. We want to keep improving it for everyone. I promise. For now, we hope members can make use of what we got on hand to at least get things going. Does that make sense?

Hot Rod being the topic poster is a function of the forums software. Auto-generated posts made from the image gallery have to be owned by a mod. sweatbead.gif We are working on a remedy for it soon as we can. Would it be better to have a neutral non-member type name like "shop manager" or something in there instead of "Hot Rod"?

I am sorry for the additional clicking. We are trying to glue together a lot of stuff. We want everything to look and work seamlessly as one site, but its very hard to make News, Forums, Chat, Images, Membership, etc. work together like that for so many readers a day. raincloudyi7.gif

Sorry for the long reply here and not to patronize anyone over this stuff. We are plenty confused ourselves and doing the best we can to give you MORE - often on the fly and in a panic. smiletf.gif Please hang in there and keep posting your stuff and giving us feedback. It helps us focus on where to improve and explain some about of the hurdles we're dealing with. Hope all this helps?

Anything that forces Hot Rod to bust his A-hole is well worth the trouble in my book. thumbsup1.gif

I like the idea of a neutral non-member type name. "Shop Manager"..."Shop Keeper"..."Shop Foreman"... "Kustomino, the god of kitbashing"....okay, maybe not the last one.

I don't actually know how the new custom posting works personally, since I haven't had anything to post to play with it...but from my understanding it's Step 1:create a gallery, step 2:mod is notified, step 3:posted, right?

I'm not sure if there's anything more to it, so I'm just tossing out an idea, here.

Use a form to post to the "featured customs". A member fills out a form something like this;

Member Name:

Custom Name:

Gallery URL: (This way if you want your custom hosted off site, you can.)

Notes on the custom:

Click submit, then it gets posted to the TFormers page, and the forum?

Anyhow, I like the idea of the Garage. I was kind of hoping for something similar, but wasn't sure if any of my suggestions would fly. sweatbead.gif

Cool! We'll add those suggestions to the list of potential names.

If the forums would allow a gallery and topic post at the same time. We would have went with that. We thought asking you to make a 2nd topic post as well was too confusing and would result in people not posting in the gallery and then complaining they didnt get featured. Thus we had to rely on the Gallery to manage the posting of all customs fairly.

Likewise, we know most lurkers won't look at the forums to find stuff. So using the galleries also helps the non-forms readers find your work in a neat presentation they can focus on easily.

Thanks for the feedback! We spend a lot of time guessing what the members will like. It is MUCH easier if you tell us what that is. So don't worry about that. We will do our best to make it happen, but as you can see. Even simple things can be a challenge to make easy for everyone.

Question (and I am sorry if this was already covered) but regarding the Mod's Name - couldnt the forum "forward" the gallery onto the forums in the "member's name"?

The Invision Board software does not offer that function at this time. We want a one step process for you too, but we are doing the best with what we have to promote *everyone's* customs to a wider audience. We will be making constant improvements on the Garage and this is at the top of the list.

This is something I have always wondered, and would love to see changed, much in the manner of Joystiq posts.
