Full Version: Has Payload been re-called?

MASTER&COMMANDER
Strange thing is I remember when this TF was hard to find, but now look at him, he's every where warming pegs & holding down the fort till far harder TFs come along to get sales going again.

But! this might Payload's final curtain call. The Hasbro rep that services my local Target (i work there), came in & stated all the Payloads gotta go & to start pulling them from the shelves.

She even went in to the back store rooms & opened ever case that contained a Payload & removed it. The Hasbro rep also showed me an email print out varifiy that all this be done, but the rep nor the email came right out & called it a re-call, just that the Payloads need to be "returned too vendor".

So! could this mean that a once hard to find TF will suddenly find its self on the "hot list" again? I don't know what part of the world your in at the moment, but currently in the south New Jersey area all the major retailers are swamped with not just Payloads, but also: Wreckage, Camshaft, Swindle, Scorpinock, & final Battel Jazz.

So I was jus wondering if Hasbro is trying to stage a false shortage to attempt to drive up Payloads "want-abelity" & then re-release at a later date.

Some times I wonder if that was ever the case with BB. Every now & then a few BB 76 & the 08 version, will suddenly & mysteriously pop up on the shelves. I can't help but wonder if Hasbro is stageing the TFs to appear as "short in supply", & always throwing out that lame ass excuse "we here at Hasbro never know which toy will sell the best or will be in high demand".

ITS A TOY CONSPIRIROUSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LISTEN TO ME I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT! IVE SEEN THE PLANS, THEY WANT TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!! *man in white coat sneaks up from behind w/hyperdermic in one hand & straight jacket in the other*

IM TELLING YOU ALL! SAVE YOU TOYS, *orderly injects needle* THEY WANT TO TRICK............ you............in..........to..............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

maybe they're recalling this toy because it's sh!t! If so, they'll also need to recall Swindle and Deluxe Scorponok too. tounge1.gif d:

They'll probably glue the head part on properly. It's a choking hazard.
Satan's Camaro
Maybe they're just trying to get it off shelves to make room for Animated. Although, that would be unusual...typically it would just be moved to another spot to be clearanced out.

lets hope they do something about that plunger o doom

i'd have probably kept it if not for that eyesore.
Talkie Toaster
I don't think Payload is a problem,

Camshft on the other hand is warming the shelf like there's no tomorow. Why they decided to recolour Swindle and not a semi cool mold like wreckage I'll never know.

Fail

Those toys are much better than Payload.

But that's the only thing I can think of...it doesn't seem like it could be a hazard.
slugpitcher
people have been complaining about having it conficated at airports... seems it alters cabin preasure or something...
cause it sucks so bad... drum.gif

ha ha h...nevermind

Finally, the government got some sense and added a, "No stupid gimmicks that ruin a perfectly good toy," rule to the toy safety guidelines.

QFT. Payload isn't as bad as those two... but almost.
MASTER&COMMANDER
All jokeing aside Payloads bigest problem IMO was that they made him a Decpticon. I mean has any one ever read that crap profile of his on the back of his packageing?

Its a bunch of BS about how he steals money to fund Decpticon activities. I'm like, WHAT THE HELL DO DECPTICONS NEED WITH MONEY?! they can pretty much take what ever they want. But! on the other hand, the entire plot of the movie (in hind sight), was compleatly unnessary. after all if the Decepticons had a few coins in the bank, then all they realy need to do was buy the damn glasses instead of destroying the city to get it.

But! switching back to the other hand, considering a simple "scout class" TF like Frenzy hacked the Pentagon's computer system would seed to suggest that quietly hacking a banks computer & buying the glasses w/a bogus account would have been a piece of cake.

Sam rejected his bid. He had too many negative feedback post-21-1056164451.gif

But yeah, throw my vote in on Payload being made of fail. One of the few movie toys I just flat out don't like. If he suddenly shoots up in value because he's now "Rare", his crappy ass is going to be making money alright, because he's definately being tossed on said auction site.

(FWIW, I think Scorponok's just fine, but I simply refuse to acknowledge that he has a robot mode biggrintf.gif)
Hip-Hoptimus Rime
Well, I modded both Payload and Scorp to improve their robot modes- Payload lost his plunger (you have to clip his alt-mode bumper/grill in place to form his back), and his former claws are now arm-mounted melee weapons). Scorponok's tail pops of and lies flat up against his back giving him an overhead weapon. More loose parts, but both figs are greatly impoved.

Swindle's pretty hopeless, even I must admit. Great little molded details throughout, tho...
siburke939
they wouldn't recall a toy because it was rubbish

it will be a safety issue

The only real gooses in the movie line was the aforementioned Payload and Dreadwing.. I actually thought Swindle was pretty cool.. just a tad different from the others. I kind of treat him as my cannon fodder Transformer.. just a common grunt that's offed like a Stormtrooper.

Anyway.... I have a hard time believing Payload is being recalled. I mean, they're doing it like, now? That guy's been haunting pegs for about a year almost.. the next line is on its way just about. He's probably going back to shipment so he's not accidentally brought out again when the animated push comes around.. and probably because there's so many unclaimed payloads and so little of everything else, Hasbro probably wants to protect their investments rather than letting all that product going on clearance like the rest of the movie guys will.

Of course, thats just speculation. I'm just trying to use logic in all of this.

I like payload and swindle...
for the "plunger-haters" .... It's a TOY!

I would guess it either has to do with the disproportionate shelfwarming going on or a safety issue.

BTW - Hasbro does not benefit at all if a toy is perceived as "rare".
Scalpers keep their inflate prices FYI.

"protecting merch from clearence"? C'mon, ALL toys go on clearence given enough time. But the strange part about all this is the mystery surounding why they were being pulled.

Like I said earlier no one ever used the exact term "re-called". I mean stuff has been recalled at target before & there's never any mystery about why its being pulled. Hell target even puts up re-called merch in its sale add big as life along w/the reason why its being recalled.

Would I be a realy terriable person if I was secreatly wishing lead was discovered in the toys & a massive re-call was about to happen? GOD! I can just see the $$$ (value) of my riseing like a black man's blood pressure after eating a salt pork sandwich LOL!

All of the Targets in my area are devoid of TF Movie Deluxes. The line is over. The new launch is less than a month away. Spring Resets are happening.

I think people are reading too much into it.

Good riddance.

I don't buy post-25-1112138545.gif Transformers.

The line however isn't ending anytime soon here. Locally WM just got the last assortment of deluxes. Most of them repaints and big mehs.

Tempted to get Incinerator though. Three of them have been on the shelf for the past month or two. Maybe if it gets clearenced if not probably won't bother.
Ultra Bumblemus
I have payload and I like him. Theres tons of him at my target
Talkie Toaster
I think he may just be overstocked, likelyhood is he's being recalled and redistributed elsewhere, like they did with bw 10th wave two and energon deluxes in homebergins in the uk biggrintf.gif

I wouldn't mind seeing hime there and buying him for half normal rrp.
Primus-feather
I'd put my money on a kid swallowed his truck grill and almost choked, Thererfore RECALL! (to Glue on grill & reissue when TF2 comes out).
Skoponok's Skopions
I haven't even seen any TF recall on Hasbro's site. Not even for Lead paint (which I don't think they use on the figures).

I think it might either be a) a mistake

or b) some one hacked into Target's computers and listed Payload (or Pegload to some of you) as a recalled item.
