Marvel plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of the sequel, Iron Man 2, on April 30, 2010, followed by the launch of Thor on June 4, 2010. Additionally, Marvel is planting its feature film stakes for summer 2011 with an Avengers-themed summer -- a two-picture project which will debut on May 6, 2011 with The First Avenger: Captain America (working title), followed by The Avengers in July 2011.
And they're also talking about Ant man .....seriously....

Movie studio brainstorm session:
"Oooh, superhero movies are popular. We need to cash in on this fad before it gets old. Who hasn't been done yet. Batman? Check. Spider-Man? Crud. Superman? Crap. The Incredible Hulk? Dang. Iron Man? Damn. How about those X-Men guys? Shoot. Daredevil? No way! Ghost Rider? Man, they're really scraping the bottom of the barrel. How about Elektra, Catwoman, Fantastic Four, or The Punisher? You've GOT to be kidding. Maybe we could focus on one of the more popular X-Men, like Wolverine. Really? Man, we're totally running out of superheros."
On a side note, with attitudes toward America being what they are right now, I know it will never happen, but I'm want an ultra-patriotic, jingoistic, blockbuster Captain America movie.

Angels In The Outfield, Boys On The Side, A Time To Kill, EdTV, U-571, Wedding Planner, Reign Of Fire, How To Lose a Guy In 10 Days, Sahara, Failure To Launch, and We Are Marshall all disagree.
His only redeeming role was in Dazed And Confused, and I don't think that character would translate to Captain America very well:
"You know what I like about High School Nazi girls, Bucky? I keep getting older and they keep staying the same age. All right, all right."

He's a good enough actor when he's cast right - as a good-for-nothin' charmer. I thought his performance in Newton Boys was entirely adequate, for instance.
But Captain America as a good-for-nothin' charmer? Bleh.
Note to Marvel: Don't keep looking for a blond haired, blue eyed guy just because Steve Rogers is one. Think about how he'll serve the role with the mask on and have the courage to ignore the fanboy bitching until they see the movie and are proven completely wrong, as they tend to be.

FWIW, he was really good in We Are Marshall. The movie wasn't that great, though.

McConaughey was probably selected for his mid-american smallville charm. The character, after all, is supposed to be the all-american guy who, thanks to homesoil technology is changed into the ultimate super-soldier.

Also I'm fine with McConaughey. I personally don't think he'd do any better/worse than Brad Pit/Ben Afleck.
Any word on whether any of the original actors (RDJ for Iron Man thus far) would be returning for a cross over Avengers movie? I'm really disappointed The upcoming Justice League movie won't be crossing over the same actors (Superman/Batman) Of course I'm not hearing much good about the director so it's any body's guess what'll happen
As hyped as I am for TDK I absolutely dread another SM film. Seriously can a second installment suck any worse than the first?

anyone can make that movie. There's no reason for Marvel Studios to spend the money to make a movie unless they're promoting their ghey dudes in spandex books.

Which kind of begs the question of why you would bother in the first place... I mean, "because he's a comic character who hasn't been in a movie yet" isn't a compelling reason for me.
