This may have been done before but this is the first time I've seen this picture...
I think this would have made a way better Megatron face. I can't stand the one they used.

Technically they didn't use the bottom version in the movie.
FYI I thought Megatron was one of the best things about "Transformers," so I got nothing else to contribute, I guess.

Which one did they use? Looks like it to me
I thin all of the Decepticon's faces looked weird

They used the "battle mask" version of that head, but just used it all the time instead of having Megatron switch back and forth. The pictures of Megatron on the toy boxes show this older design.
The Decepticons' faces were intentionally designed to look different from us a.k.a. foreign, not friendly, etc. You're not supposed to identify with them and give them a big hug; you're supposed to be scared of them. I think they were highly effective in that regard. They definitely looked alien.

Geez that first Megatron is pretty damn funny looking. I'm happy we didn't get him in the movie. I love the Megatron we got. He was a complete badass and one of my favorite movie characters. No big foreheads for me thanks.

See: Independence Day (18th highest grossing film ever, and
Transformers is 28th, BTW)
I loved, LOVED, the movie (Transformers, not ID4). I felt like a kid for the first time in many years. But there are some really stupid parts...
Just because a movie was superbadass and kewl doesn't mean you can't gripe about it sometimes. Hell, I rag on the original Star Wars trilogy relentlessly, and they're probably my 3 favorite movies of all time (Well, maybe not ROTJ, fcuking mini-wookies).

Agreed... but Megatron's awesomeness is not a source of ridicule for me.

Could have sworn it was 20th....oh well. We'll get 'em next time (plus that Oscar

).
Yeah, the movie had it's WTF? moments, but like LM said, Megatron was not one of them. He kicked ass.

The year after the fact is simply because I only just saw the picture... because this is a TF forums with an open forum just for the TF movie... which is still being discussed... so... there's the connection

You're more than welcome to disagree. I just wasn't sure if the picture has ever been see by everyone. It was the first time I saw it so I figured I'd throw it up. You don't have to like it. But you did look at it... which was pretty much all I set out to do. I never expected to change anyone's mind.

Im soooooooo glad we didnt get that fro-bucket head-looser Megatron head OR the bottom pic Scarry Megatron either. We got what we got, & it kicks aZZ. Megatron was one of the coolest characters in it. SS was pretty dope too
Jett not Munky!
Jul 10 2008, 10:42 AM
Megs was a happy compromise really. And I suppose Munky DOES look like he was jacked up on dope.
Bay stated he changed megatron's face. The final result looked fine to me. He looked evil yet intelligent at the same time. Though I still disagree that the Decepticons HAD to look evil and scary so we wouldnt relate to them. they ARE the same species as autobots and we had no problem seeing them as the antagonists in the cartoons.
