MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Amy Rice feared for her dog's life when a pit bull jumped over a fence into her yard and attacked her pooch. So she took matters into her own mouth.

Rice says she bit the pit bull on the nose Friday after trying to pull the dog's jaws off her Labrador retriever, Ella. The dog had jumped a fence to get into Rice's northeast Minneapolis yard, and Rice says she feared the pit bull would kill Ella.

"I didn't plan it, that's what happened. I broke the skin and had pit bull blood in my mouth," said Rice, 38. "I knew what happened, and I knew that it wasn't good."

The pit bull was quarantined Wednesday by Minneapolis Animal Control officers while rabies tests are being completed. Rice's doctor will determine whether she needs shots for rabies.

"I was sure that my dog was dying in my arms; it was horrible," Rice said.

Ella is recovering with staples and stitches to her head and a crushed ear canal, but she is afraid to go for walks, Rice said.

So will her dog now be walking her and picking up her poop off the neighbors lawn?
Does she need to wear a muzzle when she's out in public?
Does she snap at people if they get to close to her dish?
Does he leg kick uncontrollably when you scratch her in a certain spot?

ok... I think I've already worn that out...

I'd have kicked its little bastard skull in myself, but whatever.

Pit bulls were bred to fight bulls in "competition" like most BullDogs including Terriers they are bred to bite the bulls nose and CRUSH the bones blocking the airway and killing the animal. If that jaw power is in action they tighten slowly and if you kick or hit them they tend to tighten their jaws quicker. The bite was actually ironically the most sensible AND most dangerous thing to do.
I had a Wolf/Husky mix, humans were OK, DOGS? Jesus man Timmy HATED dogs, If he had got hold of another dog I would have bit his nose too.. The lady was lucky the PB didnt choose her face to eat next, human skulls are a lot less strong than Bulls nasal bone.

*nod* *nod*.. (Who's Timmy?)

This all reminds me of old eps of Sesame Street from the '80s when Ernie would read the paper over Bert's shoulder or something saying, "Wow.. 'Man Bites Dog'" disrupting his reading.

Our Timmy... RIPLILBRO..

His head was HUGE! He had a unique way of showing you its time for a play-fight. Either biting your foot and dragging you off your chair all the while growling, or he would walk up to you and howl which sounded like a werewolf and grab your hand pull you forward and jump on your knee and stare you in the eyes.. From such a scary looking dog visitors would look at him quite nervously..

We now have a Border Collie strong verry strong, cute, scary clever. SCARY SPEED! Ellie-Mae..

She either growls or howls OOOH ELLOO to you, but only if she hasn't seen you in over an hour. OR. In the morning when you come down stairs, Wakes you up better than coffee.
