SMITHSQUARED

The cooking world lost a great lady this last weekend. World Renowned french chef Julia Childs passed in her sleep 2 days before her 92nd birthday. If it were not for her, charismatic chef's like Emeril Lagasse would not be on tv today. Bamm that!

In tribute I ask that everyone have a glass of wine with at least 1 meal today

You know what's funny...well it's really not, but kinda is biggrintf.gif

I live in Houston, and a radio station here is Mix 96.5 Last year they called her up on her birthday at like 6:00am and they chatted for a bit. Well, this year, 2 days before her birthday(on Friday I think), they called her up. After 6 rings, Ryan made a joke that if after 6 rings an old person doesn't pick up, it means they're dead. They kinda smacked him for being so aloof. They got the machine and left a little message wishing her an early birthday. Well they called back around 9:00 to see if she was home and her assistant answered, informing them of the news.

Now they think they jinxed her death, or startled her in her sleep tounge1.gif

I never really cared for her, but my mom is into that sort of thing and owns several of her cook books.

She lead the way to entire channels dedicated to cooking. In the process she entertained many millions of people.

Led the way to entire channels dedicated to cooking, eh? That's a good thing? I have never found myself so mind-numbingly bored that I wanted to watch a cooking show. I beleive I'd rather have a labotomy.
