Maybe Hasbro originally intended for Magnus to become Sky-Lynx, with the white cab becoming the "Sky" component and the super mode armor becoming the "Lynx" component

Or...you know...not.

I suspect it has something to do with space shuttles actually being white and the toy coming out in the 80s.
