I've had an interesting thought about the second Transformers movie.. not quite concerning who are the new faces we'll see.. more like.. how are the old ones gonna appear?

From a marketing standpoint, Optimus, Ratchet, Ironhide, Bumblebee and Starscream have already had toys made in those forms.. will this mean that these guys are either gonna be taken out of the limelight, or are they gonna switch alt modes? Are they gonna get killed off for a new set of characters like in TF:TM?

Not nesessarily. Look what they've already done to the existing bots. Night Watch Prime ect. . . Sort of like Spiderman. Aside from the black suit he looked the same for each movie but they add new gimmicks to each sequel. I don't know how I would feel about them switching alt. modes for the sequel. I like the idea of the characters staying the same.

They can always make new/better toys based on the designs of the first movie.

Take 'Screamer for example. They could design a SS toy for TF2 that has less undercarriage junk and actual hands. So Hasbro/TT release a new mold for the figure, while at the same time the character doesn't have to change alternate modes.

They could keep the same alt modes but design new robot modes and redesign the alt modes so there is not as much clutter or just make them look better. I can't see them repainting these molds a THIRD time and be part of the main line for a sequel movie. They'll have to do something.

I would be surprised if we see any main characters redesigned for the sequel. Reusing them from the first movie makes sense from a budget standpoint since it's that many fewer characters that have to created from scratch. So I doubt the core lineup will change a great deal. As for the toys I don't see how this will be an issue. Hasbro could well come up with new molds for the existing designs.

I would be surprised if the characters *aren't* changed for the sequel. Nothing dramatic, of course. Just some kind of update for each one. Bumblebee's kickass alt mode is going to be a lot less kickass in 2009 when that car will have been out for a year already. And you know Bay isn't gonna play that. There needs to be something fresh with each character, and for goodness' sake, they *are* robots, what excuse do you have not to update them?

As for toys, I guarantee that no matter what, there will be new molds for all characters. Hasbro knows now how huge the TF movie (sequel) is going to be. There's no way they're going to use three-year-old toys. Nor are they going to be concerned with toy development costs, considering how well the toys sold for the 2007 movie.

i see no change in the movie and new or better painted toys for the charactersi just hope they paint the bloody things right the first time they're released

well since munky will be leading the decepticons...or at least a team of them, i would hope we got a leader class toy of him. as TF I has shown, he's too big for a voyager

there were things i didnt like about LC prime too. i mean i KNOW that a movie accurate transformation is impossible, but at least they could've used the general idea for prime. his arms were in the front, not his legs!

my dream is that Prime's message is responded to with "Prime we got some problems back home, you better get your asses back here and help us out!" followed by new non-earth modes, and maybe Shockwave's troops teamed up with some bad ass Aliens.

There are rumors about the sequel being centered mainly around cybertron..so if that's the case, they just scan cybertron alt modes and everyone's happy. well the fandom may complain a bit. they also say soundy will appear... i wonder what his alt mode would be...

I don't see the need to change the looks of the surviving Autobots. Not even Bumblebee. He's changed once. I think it'd be stupid for him to change a third time. Prime doesn't need to change either.

If there is possibly one thing I'd change it's the color of Ratchet. I don't care for that yellow/green color. It's too ugly for me.

As for Starscream, he's fine as is.

I just hope new molds for the toys that are improvement possibly (like others have said, better paint jobs and hands for Screamer).

i dont think they should chage the survivers any way the only change on bumblebee would be in tf3(if there is one) where he becomes goldbug,or megatron into galvatron(wouldent be funny if galvertron oblederated starscream in hes coranation gear in tf2/3.....yeh right)
and the starscream size in products should be leader sized robot and ultra sized jet(if possible) plus i think maybe that hasbro should get new molds(instead of all these repaints!)
