“NeoG1 Spychangers: Coming Up Short

When I first found out that K*B Toys was going to be selling Spychangers as G1 characters, I knew I had to do this. And as it turned out, I did it just in the nick of time to enter it into the OTFCC art contest. Where it tied for first place in the “2D color category!

(True story: Both my pic and Carl “Wannabegeorge Peterson's entry were accidentally given the same ID number. And since that number was used to count the votes, it's impossible to tell who won! Thus, the tie.)

Anyway. Comments, critiques, etc.?

Congratulations... that is a pretty sweet picture... but...

If your votes were 'combined' due to having the same ID... doesn;t that simply invalidate the whole thing?

I mean lets say combined, you guys got 50 votes.
Second got 45 votes
Third got 42 votes...

Saying the two people who got COMBINED 50 votes won 'tied' for first doesn't seem very fair.

There is a very good chance that even FOURTH place scored higher than each of the two art pieces.

I don't think I could accept an award under those circumstances. It isn't YOUR FAULT that they put you in that position through a mistake in no way related to your work... but it is like breaking a SPORTING record but having an 'asterisk' in the record book next to your name for a reason.
Optimus Prime
cool pic, keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with the logistics of our icon-maker, but that's an awesome picture regardless. I really like the way you pulled out the "G1" details of Jazz and Wheeljack's heads. Overall, super cool thumbsup1.gif

In principle, you're absolutely right. However, after the voting was over, I got to look at the tally sheet. I don't recall specific numbers, but our combined string of hash-marks was MUCH, much longer than anyone else's. Unfortunately, it didn't occur to me to make sure we'd actually gotten more than double the next highest score. But, based on my visual recollection, it wouldn't surprise me at all if we had. At this point, all I can do is trust to the counters' judgement.

Awesome. I'm happy the little details like that are coming through to people.

Heh heh. You'll have to take that one up with Hasbro. Personally, I'd love to see the X-Brawn mold painted up like 'Hide - the massive arm would be somewhat appropriate, I think. (Maybe that's where he keeps all his chemicals.)
