I've recently moved to the UK from Australia- I was one of those fans unfortunate enough to have my MP Megatron seized by customs, and only received notification the week I left the country (and so wasted AU$130 on a toy that never arrived).

Now that I'm settled in London and out of debt, I'm looking at buying one from HLJ, but I'm not sure what the customs laws are here. Has anyone here ordered the figure and had it arrive intact? I want to hear from HLJ buyers especially- they've been great to me in the past, but I'm not so trusting of the UK postal system just yet

Also, SAL vs EMS to the UK? How long does SAL take to get here? Do they still leave a delivery notice and send it to the local post office if no one's home at the time of delivery?

Any other advice on local TF info that I should be aware of is also welcome. I haven't got the space or money to collect like I did back home, since I'll probably only be here for a year or so... but I'm looking forward to Animated and more Classics later in the year

I got my M.P. megs form ebay & had no problems importing him.Unless the laws have changed it should be no problem getting him.
As for E.M.S IT TAKES 3-5 days & if its worth over £18 pretty much garuntees a customs & handeling charge.
Oh and yes they do leave a card if your out.

I think that you may be better off paying the extra and ordering from a UK stie.

I got mine from Yesasia.com for £65 with free shipping. It arrived within a week.

I got mine from Hobby Link Japan as a prize (Thanks TFans & HLJ - I'm still wearing the T-shirt!) & it got here fine. Had to pay customs on it, but no opened packet or anything like that. The company that delivers it will either leave a card for their depot so you can collect it or leave it with a neighbour if you're not in.

About shipping: SAL takes 2 weeks, but it's very cheap, I choose it everytime I buy something in Japan and I've never had problems with it.

The guy is worried about IMPORTING it, so why dont you lot show him links to UK sites he is available and he will get it within a week of ordering and with no risk of confiscation/customs charges..(You dont count in that SirBurke)

There was no Import charges from yesasia. I think they have a UK based warehouse or something.
