Hi guys, I wasnt sure wher to post this so i figured here would be good enough,
no onto my problem, I woke up this morning and went to turn on my iPod and it doesnt respind to anything, it only reads 'Disk mode' on the screen, i tried to reset the ipod through itunes but to no avail when it said ' there has been a problem restoring your ipod please try again later'.
Can anyone help? i dont want to get rid of it as it has some sentimental value to it. should i take it to an apple store?

If a restore doesn't work then there's probably a hardware issue, generally the hardware problems are the drive itself dies, and then it will display a "SadMac" icon. If you bought the applecare (extended warranty from apple), you can go to an apple store and they will repair/replace it. I've had the hard drive in my iPods die numerous times, and they're always more than happy to replace it.

OK I've had this message with iTunes before, but not the one you got on your ipod itself. As for the message, I recently got a new nano (to replace my busted Shuffle) and it said it couldn't restore. I just hotplugged it and it was able to update after that. But since you got a different error, that might not work for you. My recommendation, check either the Apple Knowledgebase or ask a Mac Genius at a local Apple Store.

the easiest way to fix your problem is to buy something other than an ipod XD

For the record, it happens to me now and again, and I just ignore it for a half hour or so - usually rights itself
Battery needs replacing though I think, which will cost me a bit.

Use a 12 lbs. sledgehammer, hit iPod repeatedly with it, and wait for the b/w Apple logo to reappear. If it doesn't work the first time, keep hitting it until you do.

Use a 12 lbs. sledgehammer, hit GRiDcase 1520 repeatedly with it, and wait for the slegehammer to break. If it doesn't work the first time, keep hitting it until it does.
FIXED!

purchased a GRiDCase III plus when I was with the Air Force in Korea in 1985-6. Bought it when a friend of mine told me about an Army unit (Rangers?) who were using one and dropped it out of a helicopter onto an asphalt landing pad - when they took it into the shop and said they needed a new one, the tech asked, "what's wrong with it?" "we dropped it" "are you sure it's broken" "no" Turned out the machine was only scratched and dinged.
