I read a commentary on Slate.com last week where they said that Obama should drop out in order to make himself the new Al Gore (i.e. Mister Screwed-Out-Of-The-Presidency) and guarantee himself the nomination in four years. Pretty mercenary political thinking, and I highly doubt it's the kind of thing Obama would do, but it was still an interesting read.

But if he did, and Hillary won, he'd be screwed for 8 years. Has a party EVER chosen a candiate different from the one they already had in office?

The angle they took was that Obama's supporters would be so outraged at Clinton that they would either stay home or vote for McCain. It's a fantasy scenario, to be sure...
Although if it were to happen, I could definitely see McCain winning. Hillary is stronger with the Democratic base (viz. her wins in Ohio and Pennsylvania, which were closed primaries), but Obama is stronger with independents, who will be voting in every state in the general election.

I read a few of the highlights... honestly, anyone who's shocked, shocked! about a pastor making negative comments about America hasn't been in that many churches before. The difference is that when they do it in white churches, they just talk about how American culture is evil but the nation itself is still super awesome and stuff. In other words, America's great except for the people.
I could go on, but my meh fuse just blew

On a side note, Jimmy Carter was on The Daily Show last night. Interesting comments about his talks w/ Hamas. It seems like he made more progress in a few days than our government would make in a few years.

So, let me get this straight...the only way that Hillary can really win the nomination is through the superdelegates. After all the crap that Obama has been through, none that have pledged support to him have switched sides...actually, he's been picking them up at an even rate in the past few weeks. Really, what is going through HRC's mind to convince her that she's going to win the nomination?

OK So I just had lunch with my racist sexist republican Printer... actually turns out he's a registered Democrat... wanna guess why? yeah he already put in his vote for Hillary.
The theory that republicans are out there are voting for Hillary because they think she can't win is true.
I really wish this was over now. The consequences of having more of the same from our next administration seem really dire to me...
