Ever since I knew about the existence of this kit i have loved it but i never really expected to have an original kit because of two main points:

1- Be finacially able to buy one and
2- Be lucky enough to find one.

So, my hope was just enjoying this toys in pictures of sites like Diaclone.net, but somehow, when Takara reissued the ultra magnus movie colors special, my destiny to complete this toy was just set .

First I acquired this Powered convoy reissue in 2002(two sets to be exact), and then the Red Mirage KO (I have to say that calling this a KO is unfair, his quality is better than those hasbro commemorative reissues) in 2006, and finally on Dec 31st the final piece arrived, e-hobby Deepcover!

I just broke down and found a Red Mirage Remake, hope to have that in my hands soon.

PC is just fantastic! I went through a lot of trouble to complete one. Blue Cab came from Hawaii, Box came from Japan, and Trailer came from Italy, along with most of the pieces, especially the little buggy guy.

I also got the Deep Cover remake, had a custom gun made for him, blue rifle instead of white. (back when I could get customs made, would LOVE to get more Buggies, a blue one for TF Magnus would be sweet!)

Backfire, do you intend on using the red mirage remake as a substitute for getting an original one? Or will you still search for an original one?

If I ever find one of the real diaclones I am missing, and the price was right I'd get one.

Custom Blue Hoist with %99 authentic parts, right down to the WRECKER stickers, just painted head.
(Diakron blue trailbreaker, with G1 Hoist painted head and cap, and Italian Wrecker stickers)
I have a custom Black Police Mirage, as well as many other repainted G1's into police cars.
Reverse colored Prowl "SWAT" kinda like Mexican Prowl.

Any of these are just fine for me to keep as substitutes for the real deal.

my collection is in different conditions, some are complete, some loose, boxed, custom parts, or no part. From G1, TraSformer, Diaclone, Diakron and a couple Remakes. KO Red Mirage fits right in.

I might paint a Hoist I took apart Red and just make Wrecker till I find one.

Last time I saw a real Diaclone Red Mirage junker, it was on Ebay Japan I think and went for quite a lot, missing parts also with a "No Interenational Buyers!". Last Botcon I attended, Marlboor in the box was I think $3,000. Um...yea I'm happy with my custom for $$, thanks.

If I was a rich guy, I'd buy everything I could get my hands on, big glass case with lights and who knows, maybe a computer controlled lighting system to blink and spot light and all that fun crap. But I'm not so this little Diaclone semi fix will do just fine.

It's a little hard to justify spending $$$$ on one toy when I'm saving up for a house, and Takara could remake it, making it worth far less like most of my original Diaclones.


Besides the Green Hauller and Ratchet, the only remake I didn't have an original of they made was Deep Cover.

Hell, I have a big KO collection anyway. Have the Cyclopse chest Optimus with the Highspeed container trailer which launches the post less roller across the room! And a fake black shooting Megatron. My Browning is a KO Kingdam in the box. I have 2 TraSformer black megatrons in the box also, some don't consider them worthy since they are not original Microman...I like them all. Anything that sparks some interest or imagination is good with me.

I don't know you guys but if things continue as they are, and the KO makers keep on giving quality, i don't know if "originality" of a piece will be worth for sacrificing quality.

Not wanting to change this topic into a KO discussion one, I have to tell you, I have been buying the takara reissues as I am able to, I also bought this mirage KO and the quality of these KO if very good compared to the OFICIALLY licenced products, I mean ,I remember having a Kingdam starscream and when you used to compare with TAKARA Hasbro figures the quality was far superior, but sincerely, last week I received the Encore Ratchet & Ironhide TAKARA reissues and they are CRAP! they are not even half the quality of the original reissues from 2001 which i also have, the plastic is very cheap the arms do not fit properly when transformed into vehicles and when compared with the blue and red mirage KOs i have the KOs are FAR superior in quality and detail.

So you tell me, if you can not afford $3000 for a Diaclone Marlboor wheeljack and since TAKARA will probably not re-issue it what do you do?

for me, reissues are a dream cometh true, I just could not beleive when this all started back in 2000 with optimus prime,but really i want to have quality figures and if the original maker gives me crap for my money I prefer to buy KOs that are worth the money I pay.

I'll have to go through my video and make a screen grab of the $3K Marlboor...was laughable.

I MADE a couple custom Marlboor Wheeljacks, transrepro was producing kits, new blue windshield and wings and the alt head. Repro lables makes a set of stickers that converts a plain WJ, I painted one and with an extra head applied stickers to another. I honestly like my painted one with custom stickers better.

Yea, what respect is there for the co that makes a KO of it's own stuff?

Weird, looks like bizzaro-world G1. I obviously don't know enough about the history of TFs to understand the rarity, but they are exceedingly beautiful, esp. the Convoy, and you're clearly excited about them, so congrats!!
