I think they're going somewhere with the key thing. I hope so atleast. They seem to be working for cohesive story, and Sari appears to be... ummm... *looks around*.... More than meets the eye.
I.S.T.
I'm guessing the key is one half of the all-spark, while the other is in the box thingy itself.

The animation is lacking, as I figured. The humans aren't much better animated than South Park's people are... Some animation errors too, but that's a Transformers hallmark.

Other than that, 100% awesome. I did not expect them to reuse the old transformation sound at all. Same with the obviously put there to wank the fans off G1 clips.
Buddykiller
i just think it's a lame concept right now.

oh, the transformer died? no problem! *plug*

I disagree with all the "the animation sucks" sentiment. Especially when it's coming from a group of people who grew up with cartoons where most of the action involved partial figure annimation, which was mostly just the mouth.
I.S.T.
Yesterday I watched 70 some odd year old cartoons with better animation... Hell, Teen Titans was better animated.

And, of course, i'm not even comparing it to the old Kings of Animation, MGM, Warner Bros. and Disney...

Watched about 3/4th of it. Sorry, but this thing almost lost when Blitzwing did his Man-E-Faces thing and started singing. Sari was as bad as the kids in the previous 3 shows, although Kicker almost had a reason to be in Energon/Super Link. The show has almost too much humor, IMHO. I would go into more that bugged me, but I don't know how to make a spoiler thingy, so I won't.

Starscreams voice was awesome though. And it still had a more cohisive plot, and more character development than the movie did.

It's better than season 2 and 3 animation. Some season 1 was better than this, though only one or two episodes...

Sari is what i want to see in a human kid, plucky, fun loving not the type we get most of the time that seem to be rather emo.

Don't be too hasty there, sir. I'm laying down bets that Sari, the ten year old daughter of a mate-less, and old robot developer, isn't as human as we think she is.

Think about it - her dad was an adult when he found Megatron's head, and now fifty later he's got a daughter? How old was he when she was born? Seventy? Eighty? Plus, she "interfaced" with the Allspark, and isn't allowed to hang out with other kids. I think these are intentional clues.

QUOTE (Blitz @ Dec 27 2007, 04:09 AM) *
as for the jokes i really liked them, the ones that stuck out as quite cleaver was when BB and sari first meet and exchange names and when sari tells to prime how humans reproduce and you just see that shocked look on primes face

Ya hear that, Tramp!? Cybertronians don't know about sex. They don't do it.

The beauty of that scene is that we don't hear what she said.

Either it's a small child telling a robot about sex, which is kinda funny...

Or she's telling Prime that a stork brings baby humans from Heaven, and he's shocked because Transformers just have sex.

We really don't know which scenario played out. smiletf.gif
Hobbes-timus Prime
Hobbes's Law of Transformers Fiction Interpretation: Anytime the phrase"we don't know which scenario" is used when referring to a moment in a story, the alternate scenario being described by the subject using this phrase is probably wrong. See: Starscream shot Megatron under any Transformers Movie discussion for further examination of this phenomenon.

Good law.

So, I hate the key. I like the idea of it healing Transformers, but... it brought Prime back to life. That's from the dead. The Autobots have a get out of death free card. And that is lame.

So, now I need to know. Why is Starscream's figure blue? He was clearly gray in the animation... so why is his figure blue? Wtf?

While that's true, it doesn't speak to how the budget was spent. More Money Spent =/= Quality

Hell, I imagine figuring out how to work the transformations probably took up a fair bit of the budget... It's not cheap animation, by any means. You can see the effort.

Regarding the key of magical lifey -

I agree that if its simply a "get out of dead free" card - then yeah its pretty cheesy. But lets not over look the fact that there appears to be quite a bit of thought put into the story arc. I suspect that the key is going to have some significance.

With that in mind the question becomes:

* What are the ramifications of the Key?
* How did the Humans get it?
* Why did they give it to the 8 year old child?

Oh and when prime turned grey - i went: eektf.gif boogie.gif clap3.gif rolleyestf.gif post-25-1112138545.gif

I.S.T.
Fluid? It was cut and pastey...

As for the key, it's got to be part of the allspark..

Or, I just had a thought.

Ok, I broke down and YouTubed it.

First off, I want to say I preferred the live action movie. Just wanted to get that out of the way. I wouldn't have brought it up, seeing as a kids cartoon and an action movie targeted at teens and adults are apples and oranges, but if people are allowed to say "OMG THIZ PWNZ TEH MUVY!!!" then I'm allowed to say that if forced to choose, I would go with Bay's movie over TF: Animated.

Got the unpleasantness out of the way. Good.

I loved the use of G1 footage in "historical" videos. On the other hand, however, I knew the moment I saw them that there would be those out there who would use it as an excuse to try and cram Animated into the G1/BW/BM continuity. It was an Easter egg, nothing more. Animated is its own continuity, like A/E/C, RiD, or the 2007 Movie.

Starscream RULED. Finally, an animated Starscream to live up to the potential the G1 version never fulfilled (until he tossed Megs out of Astrotrain, anyway). Kenny's voice was spot on. I was a little thrown off upon hearing that Sponge Bob Squarepants was going to do the voice of 'Screamer, but man, he nailed it.
"Yes! Right then. Solemn face, solemn face."
Still, as someone else mentioned before, I have to wonder why they made his toy blue. He's obviously dark grey and a purple-like red. So why blue?

I was pleasantly surprised with Ratchet. Mixing a little of G1 Ironhide and G1 Kup into his personality finally made Ratchet more then simply the "doctor guy." He actually had a unique personality. Good call writing staff.

I'm not sure about Optimus though. Seeing Optimus so low on the 'Bot command chain will take some getting used to, but at the same time I'm interested in seeing how they turn him into "Optimus Prime, greatest, most noble leader who's ever lived."
Speaking of Primes, did you see the chin on Sentinel? And I though Starscream's chin was big.

Megatron was scary. He seemed so calm as he went about kicking Autobot a$$. And Lugnut's exchange with Blackarachnia touched on Megatron's nature of sort of a self-styled freedom fighter.

Blitzwing gets a 2/3. His Nazi commander personality was awesome, his Arnold personality was entertaining, but his third crazy musical theatre personality made me cringe.

Sari, well compared to the A/E/C kids, she's a breath of fresh air. Damn you Kicker!
Hobbes, I think you're right about Arcee and Blackarachnia being one in the same, but I think you're stretching for something with Sari. I doubt they'll make her anything more then a kid who gets caught up in the 'Bot/'Con conflict.

All in all I was pleasantly surprised. The voice acting was great and the story was great. I still think the animation style sucks though. JMO.
Still, the story and voice acting was good enough to allow me to overlook the style of animation.

I was pleasantly surprised, and I can't wait for more.

To be fair Primusq - everyone should be able to voice their opinion.
Even some of us who enjoyed the premiere may not like every episode.

For those who didn't enjoy the new TF:A - I am happy to hear the criticism, and observations.
But do keep in mind that actual thought out comments supported by reasons (subjective though they may be)
will be better received than 20 lines of runonsentenceOMFGBBQITSUXXORS
also keep in mind that this IS a TRANSFORMERS FANSITE - so the default for the most part should be people who do enjoy the product. BUT there is room for all.

Where did he get it?

Where did he get ALL of his technology?

Why did Megatron have the Key of Magic Lifey Life to begin with?!?!?!

Correction, the art style for the humans sucks goat wang. The robots are just fine.

And I am, at least. The movement is very anime-cheaty, if you get what I mean. Better than a lot of anime though.

Actually, I doubt that any Prime will carry a physical, Matrix-like device in their chests ever again because then Hasbro would have to incorporate that feature into the toy, and they would consider that a waste of time and budget.

Yes.... because all Science-Fiction programming plays by a firmly established set of rules governed by the known laws of physics and the most probable theoretical probabilities.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeah............ anyway.

My observations are as follows:

1) Starscream is officially awesome. AWESOME. AWESOME. For the first time ever, the character actually has the abilities, power, and courage to be a credible threat to Order........ and the Autobots.

2) It seems that the writing has some legitimate effort put into it this time around. It feels like there is a plan behind the show, and we're just at the very beginnning of what could be a *gasp* over-arching plot.

3) The animation is..... fine. It's a little cute for my tastes, but I remember that I'm no longer 8 years old, and that this show, while it may have soem nods to prior continuities and characters, is not made for me. Compared to everything else on Cartoon Network, it's beautiful.

4) Characterization was good - very good, in fact. The individual robots felt like they were personalities, and not just accented caricatures like they were in Cyberton. I may even be willing to watch this show.

5) Ultra Magnus: I can't deal with that right now - just sit there and wait for someone to eventually reach you, when I have some free time. You're obviously panicking about those decepticons; don't worry, they couldn't possibly be dangerous.

To quote The Who: Meet the New Boss, same as the Old Boss.
