Well if that explanation couldn't get any lamer... Maybe you just didn't listen to the conversation between Optimus and Ratchet then. Then again I wouldn't want to throw a wrench into anyones new childhood memories.
Go back watch/listen again...Prime tells Ratchet that he was there (for the Great War). The G1 history videos are directly linked. Who knows maybe it ties into Animorphs then.
The producers have said the opening animation is fanwank only...besides the timeline of a lot of story elements in this show couldn't possibly coincide with what happened in G1: For instance why would the Autobots be ignorant about humans if Ratchet and Ultra Magnus were surviving characters from G1 carried over?
So, there was a Great War, just not the same Great War as happened in G1. Total reboot. Try and keep up instead of calling people's explanations lame.
Haven't started calling anyone names...yet.

They took Crunch from Mighty Orbots and ran with it >:P

Prime looks retarted all the humans are f@ckin annoying, and what's with the smirks on there face!!! It's like the creators personal way of giving G1 fans the finger. Hell my kids didn't even like this crap, the youngest asked if he could watch the G1 series on dvd! (tear drops down my eye)
But that's cool though, I still have the originals G1 and when I need a new fix there's always the IPW comics. Which are great!

hmmm, I hate to admit it but you got a point about the TFs not knowing humans thing. but its just as crazy to think that this monstrosity is totaly free from G1. someone has said that this OP is not the "great hero" that he's destined to become, (yet). well if this is so, & this is ment to explain away whay OP is so young, then there's still MAJOR CONTINUITY PROBLEMS! such as OP "youth hood" name was Orion Pax. even if they want to draw him differantly, his name should still be the same. also, Ratchet & UM were about the same age as OP, so why are they way older than him now. & while were on the whole age thing, what's up w/thoes "psudo age moles" on Ratche's face??? look, for what its worth I did think Ratche's tracktor beam power was real cool. & yes SS voice actor was indeed DEAD ON! but makeing SS strong enough to take OP in a fight IS FRICKING BLASPHAMUS!!!!!!!!!! the day that pillow bitting bot can kick OP ass, is the day I hand in my Crown!

No, it actually makes more sense that way. Let me show you:
QUOTE (SUPREMEQUEEN @ Dec 27 2007, 02:59 PM)
such as OP "youth hood" name was Orion Pax. even if they want to draw him differantly, his name should still be the same.
Except he's not that Optimus Prime - he's a different rebooted Optimus.
QUOTE (SUPREMEQUEEN @ Dec 27 2007, 02:59 PM)
also, Ratchet & UM were about the same age as OP, so why are they way older than him now.
Because they're three different characters, not the ones from G1.
See? It's not the future of G1, it's not the past of G1, it's a different continuity entirely that borrowed some animation for a fun nod to the franchise's past in the real world.

The animation used was so nondescript that it really could have been used for flashbacks in Armada/Energon/Cybertron if they had wanted to.

i get the feeling that if you had it your way every transformers show would just be the same thing over and over
like primes name... so what?! 1st off it cant be a continuity error if its a new continuity, its just different from whats been done before 2nd maybe in this continuity he never was called orion pax or maybe that was his name before he was in the academy or/and maybe like in Beast Wars prime is just a tittle like commander and/or how the name convoy was in galaxy force, i say this since we know theirs a sentinel prime
as for their ages... so? its a new show a new continuity so this time round they came first. as for ratchets face... metal can decay and i've seen a fair few cars that when they get just under the paint the paint starts to blister
as for SS being able to put the smack down on prime and all the autobots since this prime is way weaker and the others are from a repair team and not fighters (prowl might very well be) I'm not surprised SS just spanked them

Well.
I loved the show. As a G1 fan, a movie fan, a Cybertron fan, and a Beast Wars fan, I can only hope I catch up with this show. There was a fantastic bit of homages to the old all the while making way for the new. FINALLY, a Starscream I can be proud of! A NON-boring Ratchet! Prowl being given the bad ass treatement! I mean...maaaan...even the whole "huge chin" thing wasn't as distracting as I believed it'd be. The animation isn't EXACTLY my cup of tea, but I'm just glad they ACTUALLY colored most everything correctly here (no random yellow seekers that fans try to shove into continuity as a new character altogether!). I will probably NEVER like the whole "chibi" thing while in car mode, but everything else was spot on. Prime being outranked by Magnus actually works for me, simply because I LOVE Magnus and this gives us all the chance to SEE Prime become the hero we've all painted him up to be.
In short, excellent show. It has SOME kinks to work out, but it is good enough for me.
WOO@SS. S'all I'm saying.

I suspect we'll find out more how this does/does not tie into G1/BW as the show progresses.
According to the profile of Ratchet
QUOTE
...Spend two minutes with RATCHET and you instantly get the sense that this bots seen it all. RATCHET largely keeps his past to himself, dishing out tantalizing tidbits when he feels the 'kids' can handle, or NEED to handle, some of the truth...
Throw Tony's review/final thought from TFWorld2005.com and its not that hard at all to see how this all ties in.
QUOTE
One quick thought. As of right now, with a little creative writing, this in theory could fit into G1 continuity. Post G1, pre Beast Wars era. Ratchet was brought back to life, or is another Ratchet, and Black Arachnia is either from future/other universe, or a pre-BW different character with same name. Who knows what they have planned, would be cool if they could work that all out.
So if you can't imagine/see it that way, fine no big deal.

I know some of what I am about to say has already been said but these are my own thought on TF Animated.
Writing: The story is great. I think it was really well written and well thought out. However I am disappointed that it is so far out of continuity.
Voice acting: The voice actors are really good. I think they did a great job at matching the voices to the characters.
Characters: They seem a little dumbed down but I guess thats to be expected from CN. So far I like the Decepticons the most. Starscream is still a BadAzz and Megatron is to truly be feared. Optimus is umm well they could of made him a lot better.
Animation: I was avoiding this.... This type of animation works well with Teen Titans but it's not that great here. The overall design is just a let down and the transformations are really lacking. I would have really liked to see animation based on the War Within art style. That would have been great.
Sound effects: It had great sound effects. The transformations were classic. I'm glad they kept that in.
Overall: I enjoyed it a lot and especially like the opening with original scenes but was still disappointed. Overall I liked everything but the animation designs they chose. I guess I just really want something spectacular and not kiddy. Yes I know it was aimed more at kids but it just seems like that so many cartoons are going for that dulled down anime style of art. I just want to see something more involving and artistic.
Well that's my thoughts. I'm still going to watch every episode and hope one day for something better.

Not G1, well they did show G1 clips and even showed a clip of BB and Ratchet from the first episode. Also they did refer to it as Historical documents so therefore you would think that the G1 series is suppose to fit in the time-line somewhere since they so openly used it.Also they showed several historical clips of Arcee. She is not Blackarachnia.

Arcee wasn't in the clips shown last night. She will be included in original animation later in the series, we saw a tiny clip at SDCC, however I suspect that this animation will take place during one of the flashbacks hinted at in the leaked season overview. Blackarachnia's bio says she was transformed by the Allspark into her techno-organic mode and there are several other leaked clues that suggest there is a link between the two. Just a theory, though.

I just watched the first two minutes of the Animated premiere (because that's as long as those clips last at the very longest), and not once did they show G1 Arcee or G1 Ratchet. They did however show G1 Skywarp, Thundercracker, Bumblebee and Wheeljack - in their nondescript cybertronian vehicle modes. They did show G1 Megs, but that really isn't relevant.
By this way of thinking it would also mean that Spike, Carly and Daniel are also from G1. That would make them what, 400 years old? Wow, those are some incredible life spans Besides, the ending of Beast Machines should be enough to let people know that this show really has nothing to do with G1.
Really, these are nothing more than easter eggs for us old fans. If this show really was a continuation of G1, there would be a much bigger clue to that.

i don't see arcee in any of the g1 clips i did see...in order of appearance... Megatron, Wheel jack. Bumblebee, sky warp, thunder cracker and dion (i down loaded it so i've been re-watching it to make sure I'm right) ad for BA I'm guessing the writers wanted to bring here back since a few are returning actors and this has no links to the G1 time line at all

QFT - Nothing has been "in" the G1 continuity since Beast Machines - and even then the Beast Era shows don't properly fit into either G1 comic or cartoon continuity, but an amalgam of the two, which technically makes it a third, separate continuity with a G1-esque past.
Animated is clearly a stand alone continuity: From Megatron's 4 million (or was it billion? doesn't matter, neither one fits) search for the Allspark to the Autobot's ignorance of organic life there's just no conceivable way that this is part of the G1 story.

Decent writing (better than the movie), lots of high flying action (love Prime's grappling hook) and great characterization! One minute of animated shows a wider range of emotions on the 'bots than the entire length of Bayformers! Even Sari is tolerable compared to the huge anime cast of kids we are used to from A/E/C!!!
And Starscream...need I say more!!?!?
Seriously, I am really stoked for the toys even more now! JUNE YOU SAY??? What the hell Hasbro? How can you release a show in December and not have toys on the shelves until June?! Doesn't that break several fundamental rules of marketing?
And if it's true that the reason they are being pushed back is for more Movie/Cybertron repaints...
To all the haters (all two of you so far): SUCK IT!!! Go masturbate to your G1 DVDs...Animated is a better show...no question! I love G1 toys, but I can barely watch such an insipid cartoon in this day and age.

Yes: Starscream "drooling as I say this"But I think you are a little harsh about G1. I liked animated but it was really no better or worse than G1. Different people like different things. I just really wanted something in the War Within style.

WTF?! Seriously...why the hell are you guys acting like this is some giant connection to 1980's G1?
It's a redux/reboot/restart/remake. It doesn't tie into ANY series as far as continuity. There is no way it can, unless they pull some giant "the past was changed and this is the new future of Earth, while being set in what would be the changed present" BS that won't matter nor make sense.
There has been no direct tie to G1 since Beast Machines. RID was NOT connected to G1, nor was A/E/C. I don't see why all of a sudden this TF:Animated HAS to be connected. If it's cause they show non-descript random clips of various G1 tidbits from G1 Cartoon, then WTF?! It's a fanboy nod, not the great, giant connector of the universe for this show to G1.
Here is the lowdown of the story and backstory for TF:Animated, just for you guys who might be confused: This is a NEW Continuity, NEW Story. Ultra Magnus is the Supreme Autobot Commander. The Primes are apparently more of a TITLE, less of a name. Hence Sentinel Prime and Optimus Prime. A Great War occurred a long time ago (seemingly hundreds of years) between the Autobots and Decepticons. Ratchet was present during the old Great War. Megatron has been the Decepticon Leader for a very long time, apparently during the Great War. The Allspark was sent by the Autobots into a distant Space Bridge portal to be launched in a far-reaching corner of the universe to keep it away from Megatron and the Decepticons. The Decepticons were defeated or banished, along with Megatron and his main crew. However Megatron and his main group of Decepticons are not dead. They have been on a mission, searching for the Allspark. Megatron has been searching for the Allspark for about 4 million years (Megatron states this himself).
Optimus Prime is a young, Autobot Academy-trained (ELITE) Autobot Field Commander who has been hinted at being kicked/exiled from the Academy. However he might just have left on his own accord. His rival is Sentinel Prime, who trash-talks Optimus and gives him a hard time. Optimus Prime leads a small crew of repair bots. His crew's main function is to repair the broken Space Bridge portals. He is just a grunt in the big picture, until his crew finds the Allspark.
Megatron's group shows up when the Allspark is recovered by Optimus and his crew. They battle shortly, leaving Optimus' crew and Megatron being slung through a Space Bridge portal to Earth in the year 2000. 50 years later they awake and a new battle starts on Earth.
That is the basics. This isn't the 2050 continuation of G1. Not at all.

just wait Super T, once all the hype has drained out of their lil heads & the spell has worn off, they 'll see the show for what it realy is. & Blitz & all the rest of you guyz arguing the validity of this continuity, this is all I can say: it doesn't matter to me if the show wasn't even called TFs. or if it was a litteral KO of the TF toon. as long as the animation is hot & the script is bangin, then I don't give a crap what its called! I want cutting edge details & a script that even tho is made for kids also is chuck nut full of adult themed stuff that us 30 something yr olds can dig. kinda like what the do in JLU. I would love for the animation to be on the level of Ghost in the Shell, but I know that asking for WAY TO MUCH. but I do feel its animation should have an animé texture to it (something other that Poké mon or Dragon BallZ crap). if you realy wanna know Armada or Energon style was always just fine w/me. the only prob w/it was that the studieo started cutting corners w/all that "action back drop" crap. JUST MAKE IT SO THE FREAKIN TF MOVE THEIR DAMN BODIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is that realy so much to ask??? like you guyz hear me talk about JLU all the time right. but as much as I love the show, i'd dump it in a second if all the animation was as lame as Hawkgirls wings (the way they almost never flap). so it not that I can't deal w/a new concept, just give me a TF show that's worthy of the name TRANSFORMERS!

They messed up on the animation quite a bit. The two times that were really off was when Starscream had the ax in his wing. It disappears during half the fight scene with OP then reappears for OP to pull it out of his shoulder. Another one I noticed was at the end when the first shoe Meg's in the back ground both his eyes are lit up and then when they do the dramatic zoom in only one eye is lit up.
So for Ratchet...I thought he died, you know in the movie.
DUDE, YOU ROCK! I don't care what everyone says about... you... oops.

Awesome show, much better than any of that A/E/C noise. Can't believe that even Starscream is so huge compared to the autobots! Pluck the naysayers, this is gonna be sweet!

Oh for goodness' sake, people, I didn't even think this would be an issue. Animated does not take place in G1 continuity. It is its own separate series that takes place in its own continuity. The G1 clips were just for the fans, and if you want to take them seriously than consider the characters within those clips as early versions of their Animated counterparts, not the G1 characters.
As for the animation errors, I did not notice them. You can't top Armada for animation errors. The Transformers looked different in every scene. This animation was fluid and crisp and looked great to me.

I enjoyed it. Can't wait for more. When it started I forgot about the Teen Titans look. The story reminded me of the R.I.D. Build Team. I do have a question, Did Prime have a trailer or was he the whole truck? I don't remember seeing anything detach.

For what its worth I really enjoyed the show, its great to have TFs with personalities again. A new interesting angle on Prime (don't know about everyone else but A/E/C Prime bored me to tears) and an animation style I personally like. Watch out for Blitzwing, guaranteed to become a fan favourite and by my recollection the first Germanic TF *prepares for someone to prove me wrong*.

why sign up for anything, it's over on tpb with plenty of traffic.
562 seeders, 3 leechers and you don't have to worry about ratio
about the show it's self.... if i repeat anything, i'm sorry, but i'll look over the 8 pages when i'm finished >_>
it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, the vocabulary is well, just as campy, overly simplified and cheesy as you would expect from a modern children's action toon, but i liked it better than beast wars. the over-all story telling wasn't bad, the voice acting was decent (although that girls voice has to be the most irritating thing i've ever heard >_>). it's nice to hear screamer have a voice inspired by lata.
the only thing that makes this series stand out in my mind from A/E/C is the style and quite frankly it's just not for me. that being said, i have to say i enjoyed the ep alot more than i did A/E/C because the later suffered from not just the cheesy, overly simplified dialog, but also bad editing, bad dubbing, and bad syncing.
so yea, it was alot better than i'd expected, and the animation style didn't bother quite as bad as i thought it would although i'll chalk that up to personal bias because hey, it's transformers. unlike A/E/C, if i'm up when it's on and nothing else is i'll check it out. it's good, but it's no g1 or galaxy force
verdict on the toys will have to wait until i see 'em, but that isn't looking so hot.
EDIT
oh yea, i forgot something. that whole key nonsense is Powerglideing lame, and is probably the worst thing about the EP. oh, and blitzwing made me facepalm -_-
