I am an X-Ray Tech in a Lower East Side Hospital in Manhattan. I am starting school next semester to finish my pre-req's for Medical School or PharmD, not sure which one I'll choose. Just wondering what everyone else here is doing. I'd imagine there are a few others in the medical field here. Pls tell us about yourself in a few sentences...

I work for a company called vintage stock. we sell used movies, music, and video games, as well as toys and various sports and entertainment memorabilia. we also buy sell and trade everything we sell. sometimes, we get some pretty decent TF's in.

alot of people in the area Starscream that we either don't give enough for trade on toys, or that we overcharge for toys.
we can either offer a fair price to the seller, in which case we sell the item for 50-75% more, or we low ball you on price, and we sell it for cheaper than you find on ebay.
either way, someone's not going to be happy...

I'm currently holding a position doing data entry/data encoding/accounting work for a fortune 500 insurance company built on no advertisement other than word of mouth. The largest purposes for my position are government reporting and gain/loss assessment. I like my job and plan on moving up once I fell I am ready. I have a bit of a temper problem IRL.

I think there's been a thread or two like this, but anyway... I have a degree in Anthropology and Antiquities and previously worked as an archaeologist and museum curator for the National Park Service. After I realized I was working in a semi-dead end job I quit and did some teaching for a while (middle school and high school), but I soon got tired of that and am currently working for a hospital while pursuing a second degree in the medical field.
DarkNarcoleptic
Finishing my bachelor's degree in Communications and Philosophy, then hopefully on to voice acting. thumbsup1.gif

Though currently I play accordion for a gondola tours business.

I think this thread would've worked out a lot better if we all just simultaneously pumped our Transformers in the air and yelled "HAROO! HAROO! HAROO!" icon_wink.gif

How long did you go to school for that, if you don't mind me asking? I thought about getting into radiography myself, but the programs offered here are a LOT more hardcore than nursing and the like, and I don't really feel like doing another 3-4 years just for an Associate's degree.

I work remotely (i.e. "at home") for a healthcare company that does third-party claim adjudication for mental health services. I'm in the IT department, more on the database/operations side than the PC/LAN support side. I'll have been there for five years on April 1st.

It took me 2 1/2 years, I only need 2 classes b/c I fulfilled most most of my undergraduate courses when I got my bachelors at Hunter College. At Hunter, I did my pre-requisites for physical therapy & graduated 1/99. I worked 2 years as a physical therapy aide, but decided against getting my Masters in it, b/c the field was so saturated, & too competive to get into school & way too competitive to find a job, so I became a personal trainer for 2 years at Crunch. After 9/11 Crunch let me go, so I collected unemployment for a year and got myself together to go back to school for Radiography. With Radiography, you will always have a job, as long as you keep your license & registration renewed every 2 years.

I will be most likely leaving my job, to take classes starting January 25th. I do not think they will offer me p/t. I am about to start pre-req's for PharmD.

We should have a poll with certain industries as options. When I was a uni student, the overwhelming majority of fellow nerds I knew on campus were either doing computers/IT or engineering. As an arts/education student I really stood out! tounge1.gif

I work with guys who test DVDs (well the drives anyways). So one day the one guy says, "how do you test video in a CD drive?" Well the next day I brought in my awesome Gundom 0083 Movie VCD and he never questioned again.

IT up until last year, now trying my hand at some of the more fun bits of real estate. If it doesn't work out, I guess it's back to slaving over a hot keyboard.

Make sure you know what a friggin land patent is. I got bored of asking Appraisers if they knew what it was because NONE of them that I did knew it. And back as ye olde appraisal.com (they are criminals) they had like a 20% market share on RE appraisers.

I used to live next door to a guy who worked as a labourer who thought that any work that didn't involve manual labour didn't count as actual work and he found the notion of me talking about "working" or feeling any stress or fatigue from work difficult to comprehend (i.e.: he usually dismissed it as a joke and laughed).

...cos ya know, managing some 150+* teenagers in an attempt to educate them is effortless... (-_-)

(*yes, there are about 30 students in one class, but it's not as if I only teach one class per day! tounge1.gif And you can tenfold the stress for each emo kid per class)
