i'm doing a what if beast wars fan fic for a friends contest and i have no plot whatso ever but the one plot element i do have is that this takes place in modern times and the crew's are not gonna take animal forms:
maximals
optimus primal: not so sure yet but not a semi for sure
chettor: ferrari
rattrap: solstice
rhinox:hummer
dinobot:whatever movie wreckage vehicle mode is
tigertron:?
airrazor:propellar plan?
preds
megatron: long nose cab?
terrosaur: f-22
waspinator:apache helicopter
tarantulas: some sort of car
skorponok:tank?
inferno:?
blackarachnia: viper?
so any body got any plot ideas or better vehicles please post, oh no transformer movie plot please it's over used

well, since Waspinator is a copter, he should be named Copternator 
Keep in mind that the Maximals and Predacons aren't much larger than people. It's unlikely that they could take vehicle forms without some serious "mass shifting" going on.
Aside from that, this pretty much *would* be a G1 retread, since there would be no Golden Disk and no changing of the future and no Autobots/Decepticons on Earth already. Assuming that this would be the first time Transformers have visited the planet.
Basically it'd have nothing at all to do with Beast Wars aside from the character names, which are already tied to animal names (Cheetor, Rhinox, Rattrap, Dinobot, Tarantulas, Waspinator, Terrorsaur, Scorponok, etc.), as Megatron Prime pointed out. If your goal is just to give modern-day vehicle modes to BW characters, then maybe you should just do that and forget about the story part.
