QUOTE (X-BoB58 @ Aug 18 2004, 12:41 AM)
how did The Demon turn into a baby?

well, since the league was tossed into a cell of Mordred's making it looks like Mordred was responsible for Etrigan being turned into a baby. After all, he's the only other person Mordred and Morgan hate more than the league.
Big Grim
interesting ep, I was wondering if they'd ever show Ares. And it's about time they showed more heroes, the last couple eps were just the main league members. They need new heroes each week, that's the whole point of this show, isn't it? They actually made Hawk and Dove not as lame as they were back in the day. I doubt they'll go that far, but it'd be cool to see if Hawk ever became Extant in this cartoon.
Darth Sabre
did anyone find it halerious when GL got his glasses ?

and wonder woman literally acting like a child with batman.

i found the episode halerious!
Tantrum
Another good episode. You're right Big Grim, they should start showing more of the League, and this was a pretty good start. I don't read much of DC comics, but I thought that Hawk and Dove were done really well.
Big Grim
I never liked Hawk and Dove in the comics. Maybe it was cuz of time period they were in, but they were so lame. Hawk became cool when he turned evil. First as Monarch, and then as Extant. He killed the original Hourman, Atom, and Dr. Mid-Nite. Can't get more badass than killing major super heroes.
Lostprophet8
I have never heard of Hawk and Dove before. cliffjumper.gif Can you give out a little story on them Grim?
Big Grim
not much more than what we saw. They're brothers: Hank is the aggressive, short tempered one who revels in fights. Don is the passive one, tolerant and respectful of views and beliefs different than his own. As we saw, Don never struck his opponents, he just disarmed them or threw them off balance. Hank would beat the snot out of them. And their powers were granted to them magically. They're at about Wonder Woman's strength, and have a degree of super speed. But they are not invulnerable. They're some of DC's more obscure super heroes, first appearing in the late 60's. Hawk turned evil in the early 90's when his future self, Monarch, killed Dove. He killed Monarch, asuming his role. He then became Extant during the Zero Hour crisis, and joined forces with Parallax. The two of em were attempting to re-create the universe. Many DC heroes joined the battle in stopping them, but there were casualties. As I said before, members of the Justice Society were killed by Extant. He was not truly defeated until years later. A few years back the Justice Society defeated him in their own monthly series.

Thanks sir!
I noticed that in this episode that WW one weakness was not exploited. Whenever her hands are tied by a man, she is supposed to lose her powers. It is like her Kryptonite. But then she flew through a wall and ripped the ropes that had her bound. But, I guess that whole deal got dropped in the Crisis dealy.
Big Grim
that weakness of Wonder Woman only existed when she first made her comic appearance. It no longer exists in the post-Crisis DC continuity. And I doubt very much that it would be used in the cartoon. It was a different time back then, and would be considered VERY sexists in this day and age. Especially for a cartoon who's core audience is children, even though people like me watch it too.

I am trying to keep up with these episodes, I have only seen

What to get the man that has everything
&
Hawk and Dove storyline.

This is something that I have been wanting for a very long time. For cartoons and movies to bridge out of the original one hero one villian type role. With the release of X-men the movie, we had the very first super hero team formed by top actors and actresses of Hollywood. No one person stealing the spotlight (well besides Hugh Jackman) but a group of people sharing it and helping the story along.

JLU is the perfect follow up to the JL, and the inclusion of almost the entire DC universe makes it something that I cant wait to watch just to see who shows up next.

Back in the day with Spiderman and his amazing friends, there used to be cross overs in the cartoons. I remember a few episodes that I have on tape (somewhere) that had spiderman team up with the x-men for a coupld of episodes.

JLU gives us all this and so much more. Every story has potential based on the characters that are used. Even old over used storylines can get a fresh start with new characters.

So I am off to the cartoon network website to figure out when the show is on and when it reruns so that I dont miss an episode.
Lostprophet8
If you really like Spider-Man and his amazing friends, it sometims comes on ABC Family and Toon Disney during their "Jetix" toon blocks.
Big Grim
at least they're showing more heroes though. The last couple eps have only been Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern. I'm still waiting for that fight between Supergirl and Powergirl drool.gif

So,did you catch the big fight this weekend?

One of the biggest reasons I love this show is that the producers know adults whact the show to and aren't affraid to through a Sexual inuendo in or two. Like this weeks episode with Super Girl talking about her dream seeming very real, and Green Arow looking at Black Carnary and saying "I don't know I had a deam last night that seemd pretty reall". And when Super Girl saw her clone, Green Arow looked at the pic of her and said "looks just like you just more mature" implying about how much bigger the clones boobs were. optimuslaugh2.gif . I love this show great writting and all, never whatched the Super Man show but loved all the other shows in the Bruce Tim continuity thumbsup1.gif
Starscreamer
what impressed me this week was using the Question. One of my favorite characters, and while the book was a lil...mature, the idea of him being a conspiracy nun was cool. I was REALLY impressed with the fact they got his costume changing dead on with the gas and such...made me want to dig out the old issues.
Big Grim
what cracked me up was that Ollie was mocking the Question's conspiracies when in the comics he's a conspiracy nut too. But I was a little disappointed that they reduced Power Girl to being Supergirl's clone. I did like the connections to "Legacy" though, I've never trusted Hammond since then. Looks like I was right not too. And that shadowy figure on the phone had to be Luthor. Of course, I always blame him for everything that happens in the DCU.
megagalvatron
I didn't even make the power girl conection. If its her she needs biger boobs optimuslaugh2.gif JK I was referencing a Wizard Mag that said she had the biggest in comics, jez why don't women (for the most part) read (comics/Wizard mag)again optimuslaugh2.gif . I really wish I didn't miss all the first couple of episodes. Can anyone tell me went Superman when nuts and why?
Big Grim
Superman was brainwashed by Darkseid in "Legacy", the 2-part finale of the Superman cartoon. Supergirl was also a suspect as well cuz of her connection to Superman, but she had no idea what was going on. Lois' intervention was able to break the brainwashing, but Superman and Supergirl were both captured. Lois helped them break out, but Supergirl was gravely injured. Superman then went to Apokalips to take on Darkseid, and even though he kicked his butt it ended in a stailmate. That's why Supes really had it in for Darkseid in the Justice League episode "Twilight." And how could you not make the Power Girl connection, she had the same friggin costume.
megagalvatron
NO cape optimuslaugh2.gif . And she was a clone, so it never even crossed my mind. Just wasn't thinking about that. But when you mentioned it she also has the same haircut. Only thing missing are the cape and the ginormus boobs optimuslaugh2.gif .
Big Grim
yeah, cape was missing. But I wasn't expecting them to follow through with the large breasts. This is a show that kids also watch after all. Which is why all the sexual innuendo has to be subtle. And there's nothing subtle about Power Girl's breasts.
megagalvatron
No there isnt. I love this show and all the continuity it has thumbsup1.gif .Hopefully I'll remmember to see it next weekend. It would be cool to see the JSA but I don't think they can do them for some reason (don't know it but I know they couldn't have them for the time the Justice League went back in time).
Zix
I think the reason they have Power Girl as Supergirl's clone is a nod to the pre-Crisis version of Power Girl who was the Earth 2 version of Supergirl back in the day.

in the first ep, you see Wildcat, Sand, Mr. Terrific, Atom Smasther, Star Spangled Kid, S.T.R.I.P.E., Johnny Thunder and Thunderbolt. But they're just considered a part of the Justice League. Hopefully we'll get some focus on them.
Khan
I had a lot of things I liked about that episode, especially Question, but somehow I keep coming back to "Galatea was hot."

Guess you can see my priorities.

Although the part where he plays the pop music for the guy in the taxi was really funny.
Big Grim
I liked how he was singing the song when he broke into the building.
Zix
I liked the nod to X-Files.
Big Grim
it really wasn't a nod to the X-Files. They have that kinda gov't conspiracy stuff in DC comics all the time.

Heh, yeah, I forgot, I got a kick out of that too.

The fight scenes were really well done, too, I thought. Lots of good superhero destruction derby action, what with all the office buildings getting ripped apart and knocked over and so forth. It was kinda funny, too, the idea that you need a kryptonite-tipped scalpel to do surgery on a superwoman. Still didn't really answer what the enormous circular saw was for; one might hope a surgical saw would be a little more delicate and not spray bone dust all over everything.

I did find it a little distracting how the surgery machine and the helicopters retained more of a 3D rendered look than a cartoony look. I know they use computers to do a lot more of the animation these days, but I thought the shading on the machines clashed with their surroundings.

Excellent, Excellent show. I can't wait for the next episode.
Big Grim
I think the next ep is when Amazo returns. And about 2 dozen league members participate in that battle. Should be good thumbsup1.gif

Powergirl vs. Supergirl 1luvu.gif

I didn't know that Powergirl was a clone of Supergirl. In fact, I didn't know anything about Powergirl, other than her great "figure", and the lust of many of the other DC charecters to get their hands on that "figure"
Big Grim
she's only her clone in the cartoon. In the comic, she's got her own origin, which is still debatable and up in the air. In the pre-Crisis DCU, she was Earth 2's version of Supergirl, but in the post-Crisis DCU she has no relation to Superman. But he does treat her like family.
Starscreamer
Here is my want list for the show...and NOT how some of you fan boyz are wantin power girl tounge1.gif

I should've said about how The Question's room reminds me of Mulder's office. Sorry about that.

you know, I didn't realize that before. You're right, it does look like Mulder's office. Man, I must be slipping rumblecry.gif
seeing Zod would be really cool, and I mean the Zod from Our Worlds At War. But you know, it'd be cool to do an adaption of the original story with Zod, kinda like how they adapted the Alan Moore story with Mongul. I think that'd be interesting. Hey, how about an ep with Static and Gear bumblebeetounge.gif

Well Deadshot was the Aquaman...but he's been one of my faves since the Squad. When did the JL go against lobo?
Big Grim
Lobo was in the episode that was a send-up to the Death of Superman. He wanted to take Superman's place on the league. It was friggin hilarious, especially when he fought Kalibak. He kept throwing cars at him until he said "uncle."
Lostprophet8
Booster Gold was great!!
Squeeky wheel indeed grimlocklaugh.gif

I disguised myself for a vase for three weeks!!

Big Grim
this ep was great, lotta super heroes in this one. But I would have liked to have seen more of the League's fight with Mordru. I hope the ep with Amazo's return is next week.
X-Bob58
I NEED The Atom!!!!!
Khan
"Thanks Green Lantern!"
Big Grim
The Atom will star in an upcoming ep as well, so don't worry.
X-Bob58
the atom could take on Superman, by shrinking into his ear and punching at his brain. He keeps the streaght of a regulor man when he is small.
Tantrum
If a guy with regular strength can't hurt superman at regular size, why would a tiny guy with regular strength be able to hurt superman, no matter where he's punching him?

Anyway, this is quickly turning into my favorite cartoon.

he's right, at best Atom would mess up Superman's equilibrium and make him throw up. I think his ear drum could take the pounding.
X-Bob58
he could alter sups DNA to make him human and then kill him.
