I knew ahead of time what kind of appearance Nightwing would make, so my hopes weren't high. But it would've been nice for him to actually have dropped in on Huntress and be like "need any help?"
Thanks for the info again, megagalvy

not really, JL season 1 is Mar 21, season 2 is June 20. That's 3 months apart. That's about the same time frame we've seen for the Batman and Superman box sets. I think we'll see JLU season 1 before the end of the year.
You give them more credit than I do.

Considering we're like a year late from getting the first set, I'm a bit skeptic about it.

what do you mean a year late, they never gave any other date that I know of for season 1 other than Mar 21.

I got to see the JLU finale, omigod was it cool! You guys gotta check it out, part one airs in 2 weeks, part 2 the week after. Next week is the return of Hawkman, and they reveal his origin once and for all. Also a cool ep, especially if you're a JSA fan.

got my Season 1 box sets for Batman Beyond and Justice League. Damn, it's so cool seeing Batman Beyond again, haven't watched it in years. And I love the Injustice Gang ep with the Joker on Justice League, Mark Hamill is the Joker.

it's been back since mid-February. But not for long, this is the last season and there's only 3 eps left: Hawkman again, and the 2-part finale (which was friggin awesome!)

finally, after a friggin month of Miya-whatsit, we get a new ep of JLU. Green Arrow, Green Lantern, and Supergirl get zapped to the 31st century to help the Legion of Super Heroes against the Fatal Five. Loved the nod to Crisis on Infinite Earths when GL was holding Kara's lifeless body, surround by Legion members. Only 3 eps left til it's all over.

yeah and it was really cool because you got alot of the part ones and twos with minimum comercial interuptions......i watched the whole thing from begining to end....wich was cool because i have missed many of the episodes

so did anybody here catch the season finale. Loved the bit where they showed various incarnations of the League running down the steps. Thank Primus Boomerang airs Justice League re-reruns.
Season 2 DVD set is released on June 20th, along with Superman: Brainiac Attacks. Tim Daly will return to voice Superman, which sux cuz I like George Newbern better. Dana Delaney will still do Lois' voice. But Clancy Brown and Corey Burton will not provide the voices for Lex Luthor and Brainiac. Instead, Powers Boothe (Grodd's voice) and Lance Henriksen (Bishop from Aliens and Frank Black from TV's Millenium) will provide the voices of Luthor and Brainiac. Kinda odd having Grodd do Luthor's voice, maybe he isn't gone for good (doubt it).
I always hate it when they change voice actors like that. Like when Penguin's voice (Paul Williams) was replaced in Mystery of the Batwoman by David Ogden Stiers.

I did and I must admit I feel cheated! WTF It was Lex Freakin' Luthor and Darkseid (sp?). Lex shows up in a power suit gives DS the anti-life equation and that's it?!? No way, I say boo to them for the final show (if that really is the end).
I had wondered if the Wanna-be Hulk General was going to show up...nope he just vanished.
I want answers damn-it.

And unfortunately, we won't get them, because the show was stupidly cancelled. It suffered the same fate as Batman Beyond, in that both shows were still pretty much in their prime, and the higher ups wanted to use the popularity to launch into newer projects, and leaving the old ones to essentially die.
So, just like BB, we're left with something of a pseudo-ending. It's a decent note to leave on, but there are still things left dangling.
Big Grim
Jun 27 2006, 09:54 AM
who else would you have it end with, Darkseid was their biggest threat. And he wasn't overused like he was in Superman:TAS. In JL, he was only in Twilight, and now in the JLU finale. And the General is not a Hulk wannabe, he's an actual character from Grant Morrison's run on JLA. General Eiling transplanted his brain into the body of an indestructable monster called the Shaggy Man. Cept he shaved the Shaggy Man and started calling himself the General. He hadn't been seen after Morrion's run until Infinite Crisis when he joined up with (Alexander) Luthor's Society.
JLU suffered the same fate as most CN shows lately. CN prefers to focus on their own properties, even if certain shows like JLU are still reasonably popular.

they've ruined a lot of shows that way. I remember when they were all about Justice League during the first season cuz it was their first prime time action series. They aired the eps over and over again. With season 2, they aired all the eps but on repeated the first half of them. JLU season 1 eps were aired over and over again. I don't even remember if they reran eps from season 2, and I doubt they will rerun eps from JLU season 3.

I have no problems for them cancelling good shows if there was no audience and there since they have to make money after all, but cancelling a good show with a lot of fans for the sake of not earning as much money as they wanted since they have to pay for additional royalties is just pure greed. It's pretty much a shame on Cartoon Network. Among the big 3 kid-centered cable channels we have here (CN, Nick and Disney), I always liked CN because they have the most number of cartoons that appealed to adults.

Big Grim
Jul 19 2006, 03:43 PM
PLEASE DON'T TELL ME THEY'RE CALLING IT LEGION OF JUSTICE!!! It's supposed to be Legion of Superheroes. And it was supposed to feature Supergirl, spinning off of that JLU ep where she joined them in the future. But they changed it to capitalize on Superman Returns. And rumor has it it's Superman now, and not Superboy, for the very same reason. But yeah, JLU is cancelled. Sorry you didn't get the memo.
Father Time
Jul 19 2006, 04:05 PM
I read somewhere that it had been redubbed into "Legion of Justice", with Superman, since they figured "Legion of Super-Heroes" sounded to lame, or not X-Treme enough, or something, alongside with the change from Superboy into Superman.
Big Grim
Jul 20 2006, 02:56 PM
that's retarded, Legion of Justice just sounds like Justice League 3.0 (since JLU woulda been 2.0). Anyway, that's lame. Name changes, changing Supergirl to Superboy to Superman. Just stay true to the history and you'll please the fanbase that's been waiting for this, and not just newcomers who watch "The Batman."
Father Time
Jul 20 2006, 04:13 PM
Isn't that how they see it? It's Justice League, but without the backstory. Basically start over, without the hassle of continuity. A team of superheroes, with a Superman (without HIS backstory), and no Batman (so no Bat-Embargo). And with it being 1000 years in the future, you essentially start with a blank slate.
Big Grim
Jul 21 2006, 06:59 AM
no, you don't start with a blank slate because the Legion of Superheroes is not a new thing, just like how Justice League wasn't suddenly new when it became a cartoon. They respected the characters and the history of the team. Superman was never a member of the Legion of "Superheroes" (not Justice), but Superboy was and Supergirl is. This is what happens when people other than Bruce Timm try to do this stuff. And starting over fresh without the hassle of continuity doesn't always work i.e. The Batman.

DC animated news from the San Diego Comic-Con
Paul Levitz stood to make an announcement, and spoke about a new strategy for DC to move into direct-to-video animation.
Working with Warner Bros. Home Video and WB Animation, the company will launch a new line of direct-to-video DC animated movies that are being designed with DC Comics fans in mind, Levitz said.
He continued, saying that DC is looking to do a series of titles that will tell the character bits and stories that were important to fans, and will be working with the comic book creators on them. The first title will be the previously-leaked animated film version of Darwyn Cooke's The New Frontier. Cooke will work with Stan (JLU) Berkowitz on the film, with Cooke providing key art direction.
Another title in the series, Levitz continued, will be Superman/Doomsday, which will take the "essence" of the Superman/Doomsday story - and will be directed by Bruce Timm and written by Duane Capizzi, who's currently working on The Batman animated series.
The third title in the series will be an animated version of the classic story Teen Titans story “The Judas Contract, written by Marv Wolfman. Tom DeStano (X-Men) will join Wolfman as co-writer and producer on the film.
"This is just the beginning," Levitz said. "We're sitting around and thinking of more...so send all your suggestions in."
"We're going to take the marquee-value characters that have love across the generations," Levitz said. "And use the stellar characters so that the parental generation will reach out and share it with their kids. We're looking at all the great stories, and cases where we can find the best stories of a long run."
Levitz also added that George Perez will be working on the animated Judas Contract as well, and that Bruce Timm will be overseeing all the animated films.
"We’re looking at more than the last five minutes of history," Levitz said in regards to what will differentiate this from movies such as Ultimate Avengers.
