Well since were still waiting on new eps, I have some good news of the DVD front (in case you didn't allready know I know Grim did)
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00...3&link_code=as1Finally I can't wait for this as I never really saw all of the eps and love this cartoon. Also as me and Grim were talking about Batman Beyond being on DVD here it is
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00...3&link_code=as1Man I love this

. Only bad part is I just got Vol 3 of Batman and still need Vol. 4 and Superman Vol.2 man my wallets hurting. Now if only we could get the 90 Spider-Man cartoon(in order) and the X-Men cartoon on DVD I'll have all my favorite cartoons on DVD.

damn, that is some damn good news. I wouldn't mind them collecting X-Men: Evolution as well on DVD box sets. Oh, and the ABC saturday morning cartoon of Sonic the Hedgehog (the dark and gritty one, not the stupid moronic one that tried to be funny). New eps of JLU should be starting again soon. I hope.

I would love X-Men Evolution also. I bought all the single dvd's but even though they said that they were going to finish the show they never did so I only got season 1 and 2, but man the final season (which was one season but they split it into two parts to prolong the show) was the best. Also ironically enof yesterday while playing Sonic Rush on my DS I was thinking about thouse old Sonic cartoons and man was that gritty one cool (which seemed more geared to teens), the other one was just stupid (which was deffinatly greared towards pre school kids).

Nope, I remember that one too. I was all excited cause it took a short hiatas and came back with 3 new eps. and now I've been waiting and waiting... However I still have Tivo setup to record JLU when it comes on. So hopefully I won't miss any of the new episodes.
What really pissed me off about the JLU taking a break was that I missed the last parts to 3 part eps. The time traveling and another that I can't remember...

I loved seeing the Rogues in this ep. Funny thing, Mark Hamill played teh Trickster in the live action Flash TV show, and does the voice here in JLU. Not only did we see Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Captain Boomerang, and Trickster, but we see Weather Wizard and the Top early on at the bar, and Abra Cadabra and Fiddler also appear at the bar. At the museum, we see statues of Grodd and the Turtle as well. Good stuff

I liked how they had Orion vs Captain Cold and Batman vs Captain Boomerang. I would have liked to see more boomerang/batarang tossing between those two.
I'm really looking forward to the ep "Patriot Act," which features the original Seven Soldiers of Victory: Green Arrow, S.T.R.I.P.E., Stargirl, Crimson Avenger, Vigilante, Shining Knight, and a guest appearance by an adult Speedy.
And the finale sounds killer.

During the first part of a two-part season finale of Justice League Unlimited, Lex Luthor tries to resurrect Brainiac by having the Legion tranform the base into a spaceship to find lost pieces of Brainiac's last base; but with Tala's help, Gorilla Grodd attempts a coup to retake control of the Legion, leading to a battle between members loyal to Grodd and Luthor. In the end, Luthor defeats Grodd by turning his hypnosis power back on him and then disposes of those loyal to Grodd, showing Killer Frost mercy when she turns her freeze power on them. When the Legion reaches the location, Luthor uses Tala's magic to restore Brainiac, but instead, resurrects Darkseid, who rewards Luthor for his help by giving the Legion of Doom a quick death. Last weeks ep was sweet, but too bad Aquaman's no longer around to face off against Black Mant..., I mean "Devil Ray"

Good grief, I'm so sick of these friggin embargos. Rumor is that's why Bruce Timm is leaving Warner Bros animation after this season. He's sick and tired of all the limitations on characters he can and can't use, especially the Batman characters since he's the one who breathed new life into them in Batman:TAS.
Back on topic, that was pretty hardcore when Deadman shot Devil Ray while he was in Batman's body. Bats looked really, REALLY, pissed. Glad to see some spotlight on the Trinity once more.

um....no
Kara doesnt wear the classic blue shirt/red skirt scheme in the comics, she wears a blue shirt and a blue skirt. i was hoping that it was just a quick color error on their part, but it looks to me like they are taking her back to the classic costume instead of updating her to the modern costume
Big Grim
Feb 21 2006, 08:23 AM
they've updated her costume. For the new season they decided to make her costume resemble the way it is in Jeph Loeb's Supergirl comic. They changed her hair as well. The new look debuted in the third ep this season, the one with Warlord. Timm thought it was time for a change, she's had the same costume since the Superman series. It was cool when Linda Danvers adopted the same costume in the comic though. Anyway, other characters have had subtle costume changes this season. S.T.R.I.P.E. has a new suit of armor, and Crimson Avenger's look has been somewhat modified as well.

I loved the last Ep. It's about time Lex stepped up and said more or less (to Grodd) F U your a talking Munky (lamest mastermind ever) and I'm M Fing Lex Luther die beeeeaaacth. I love that since and also how no one else dared question him. I allways thought "A talking Munky is so lame and why does Lex take his crap" well no more. O and Grim what do you mean about limitations with the Bat characters, is that why none of them are in the socitey. I did know about the Auqa Man Black Manta thing but this the the first I heard of this, is it cuz of that lame ass excuse for a Batman cartoon "The Batman" (I hate that cartoon it's total crap).
Big Grim
Feb 22 2006, 12:20 PM
Yeah, there's an embargo on Batman characters. Since "The Batman" is out, JLU cannot use any Batman characters that appear in that show because it would "confuse audiences"

. That's why we haven't seen any Batman villains since JLU started. We get Batman villains like the Clock King instead of people that were actually in the Legion of Doom, like the Riddler, Scarecrow, and Poison Ivy. Timm was really pissed when that happened too. Just check this out for more info.

and the fact that legacy characters are being stinted show other signs. When looking at members of the JSA as Leaguers (Star Girl, Mr Terrific and cameos by Captain Marvel and Dr Fate), you can't help but miss Jay Garrick and Alan Scott. Non JSA related legacies like the Green Lantern Corps too; we saw Kyle once, we've seen Kilowag maybe three times since JL started airing. The Flash episode I was kinda hoping for some back story. The blonde chief of the CSI lab reminded me of Barry Allen, and I was almost afraid that Wally would have addressed him by that name (if he did then the JLU vs DCU continuity would be in a bigger crisis).
I really have hopes for the JL toon. but this stinting and short handing of things really does make things irritable.
I remember an article in Wizard that Timm talks about how it all might end. He even said that it could all end with one season. From what you're saying Grimm, I think they lucked out at two.

this past weeks episode was amusing, Lex and Flash swapped minds. Watching Lex go nuts with Flash's powers was cool, and he picked up on em almost immediately. He even took off Flash's mask to see who he really is, hoping to use it against him.
*Lex pulls off mask*
"I have no idea who this is"
And Flash trying to keep his cool and always referring to himself in the third person was humorous as well.

First sorry for the triple post. Don’t know how to make different quotes in the same post. But anyhoo I do know a little bit about why X-Men Evolution lasted as long as it did and why Cartoons in general seemed to last longer back in the day (some info is a little fuzzy as it was years ago that I read all this information on how Cartoons are made, so if anyone feels some of my info is wrong please feel free to correct it). Back in the day cartoons were contracted out for the long run (such as evolution). What this mean was a channel would for instance (I’ll use Spider-Man as I know the correct amount of eps.) contract a cartoon such as Spider-Man for 55 Eps. What this meant was that the studio doing Spider-Man was contracted (locked in) to do at most 55 eps. of Spider-Man and Fox could cancel the contract at anytime. The studio would continue to work on Spider-Man making new eps. and seasons until they got word of cancellation. This worked out for the channel ordering the shows because they had a set team for a long period of time on a show and kept the turnaround on eps. higher, it also made it easier to continue popular shows or even just semi popular shows. If the show lasted the full length of the contract (such as Spider-Man, X-Men, and X-Men Evolution) the channel or another channel (such as Batman) could renew the contract or pick it up. The problem with this is by the time the channel could make a decision on renewing a contract the studio and writers (so forth) have more than likely moved on to different shows (such is the case with Evolution) and it becomes next to impossible to continue a show. I say next to impossible because it has been done before with the original X-Men cartoon. That’s why the last couple of eps have totally different animation and some different voice actors. Well back to the point Evolution was contracted for the amount of eps it ran for and was not renewed because most of the people working on the show had buy the time the final half of the 3rd season ran had moved on. Most shows (but not all) now a days a done season buy season and that’s why you don’t see shows lasting as long. O and Transformers side now Beast Machines was also a contracted show (26 eps.). Well I’m done with the knowledge sharing for today hope it was at lest interesting.
